Well, this thread got closed a bit PREMATURELY...
Who ever started the post MAY have a VALID Concern.
The GOV. of CA. Gray Davis rolled back STATE SALES TAX 1/4% effective 01/01/01. I have since seen MANY companies still charging last years rate. Most of these companies are not doing it for their own gain, they are just uninformed. In fact, as the tax law states "A company is NOT required to COLLECT sales tax, just to PAY it." When the quarterly tax filings are made and companies find they charged too much sales tax, they will most likely be subject to fines.

Um, let's see here..........
OK, on a $350 purchase, if you got charged 1/4% more tax, that would be a whopping $0.87 cents!!
Scoundrels! Call the FBI!

Old Phart,
BUT The Governor did us SO much of a favor...by dropping the rate. It HAS to amount to more than THAT... it probably cost a couple million just to write and submit the bill.
<< I had already done the math...and the places I paid the higher rate at usually amounted to .01 to .02 c at the most.

Just think how much money you would have if everyone (better part of the lower millions i would imagine)in the state of Ca. gave you just 3 cents a day. After a year you would be so filthy stinking rich that you could buy your own small country! That 1 cent here or 3 cents there really adds up. Especially when the money belongs to the people who worked their butt off to earn it. They shouldn't have to pay it just because some companies are too lazy to look into it. What i want to know is where all this money is going to go once they find out they have been charging to much in tax?
