Just pick up the hull. It is 31" x 9.5". It weighs 3lbs. I was thinking about using the os .21 rgmx. Will this be enough engine or should i go bigger? Also what running hardware would be good. And any other suggestions.
never built a boat before.

Here is another pic the hull does not look too bad for $31.00

Kinda looks like the traxxas villian lol,

anyway, yes a .21 should be fine, and not bad at all for what you paid ;)

Looks like one of those ebay splash deals.

Agree .21 should be fine.

Yes it was from ebay the guy lives about 20 miles from me. it seems to be very heavy duty not like my hammer. What about the .32 engines from os and dynamite. Are the more powerfull being larger? Also where is a good place to look for hardware?

CFRACR

Yes a .32 is bigger than a .21. The Dynamite is a good engine too, I have one & like it. You may have to go with something bigger than a .21 with that hull. They are on the heavy side and to get some decent speed your going to have to compensate with more power.

I want it to be faster than the shock wave 36. I see that the .21 os has more hp than the .32 . Witch one will be faster I would like to use a pull start
engine if possible.

I was confused over that a while ago too....

i would go with the .32 (if you have the money) or try to find a different brand that makes more sence... lol

CFRACR

Well its going to be hard to be faster than the shockwave with that hull I think. The S.W. is a lighter hull w/ .32. So if you put a Dyna .32 you would even matched. If your hull is not that much heavier & set up right it will be a contender.

If you have in mind blowing a buddy out of the water then you will need to go bigger I'm afraid. You will have to use a torque start, but will be able to shred up your buddy. If thats what you have in mind!! :D

or you could get the .32 and have it modified.......

im sure you could find someone that could do it...

dadyo39

Well it looks like it will be either a k&b 7.5 or an os .46 if I can find one for a good price.

now with THOSE motors, it should really move. They should kill a .32 anytime.

my 31" prather vee moves out with a 3.5cc. a 7.5cc will definitely make that boat haul the groceries. are you going with inboard or outboard?

dadyo39

I am going to go with an inboard. With a surface drive not sure which one yet but 3/16 shaft.

Ya I will adimt K&Bs are kinda slugs, They are very reliable though, I love the way my tunnel runs with the k&b outboard

sometimes its not the bigger engine that makes you go faster, its the BETTER engine that makes you go faster.

Ouch, help us with the pics. Compress them a little to show better detail. :)

From the looks, its a fantastic build. Have you gotten it wet yet?

Tried to fire it up. The engine was very tight it took awhile but got it going.
Then noticed some metal shavings by the fly wheel and it was making a
grinding noise when i rotated it by hand. So took the motor out and one of
back plate bolts on the bottom came out and was rubbing on the fly wheel  So I put locktight on every thing and will try again.

So what size engine did you get??? Very nice looking setup. Not a bad looking hull for 31.00 either:D

Went with a k&b 7.5 and modified the prather hardware for the surface drive.
It did end up costing more than I planed  oh well.

Looks like you are going to have some fun but I would be worried about your servos. Out in the open like that and the z bend in the rudder linkage will most likely be problems. The hardware looks correct off the back too.

I was not happy that the servos would not fit in a raido box. because of the
pipe. I searched around and it seems the eletric crowd does the same. I waterproof them as best as I could then coated them in rubber. What could
go worng with the rudder linkage with the bend in it?

The electric guys seal up the whole compartment-kinda hard when you have a motor that needs to breathe. The linkage will flex giving you inconsistant steering. I don't want to sound too critical, it looks like you will have a good time, just some things to watch out for.
