The Hobby People have been charging too much sales tax!!

To California residents placing orders with The Hobby People. The Hobby People have been charging too much sales tax on their orders to California residents. The sales tax is now 7.50% in the area that Hobby People are located. They are still charging 7.75% and sometimes as high as 7.77%. I am not sure of the time that their tax was lowered but they have not yet changed it. Check your past orders if you live in California and check your totals before you buy, you may be entitled to a refund.

all towns/cities have a different tax, its not a statewide thing...the place I order from charges 7.5% and our town charges 8.25...

Sales tax is different depending on which county you live in with a few small exceptions. If you live in LA county, sales tax is 8% while if you live in nearby Orange county it's 7.5%

Ryan - you should really know something about collecting taxes before you come up here and accuse anyone of doing anything wrong. In California, the rate of sales tax with respect to on-line sales is not determined by the location of the warehouse, it's the delivery address. If you live in an area that has a higher sales tax rate, then that's what they charge. If there is a mistake, then you need to resolve it with them.
