Where to begin?

Picked up the new Golf Thursday. New to me... '00 with hardly any miles. Time to retire the older '91 Golf Convertible to weekend duties. ;) This one is now my work mount.

New Camcorder, clothes, a few tools, but not much r/c related. Well, I am waiting on a new nitro starter & glow driver. Okay, so I picked up a real sweet K&B 3.5 outboard the other day on ebay. Might never sell this one. :)

How'd the rest of you guys make out?

That's been redesigned hasn't it DD? Love the color! Is it metallic?

As I said in the other thread, I finally got a new Dremel. Boat beware! :D I also got a DVD burner.

Thanks Burny. Its a Golf IV, whatever that means. Color is a simple dark blue. Been a long time fan of them. Told the wife a month ago that I'd like to start looking for a good used four door but came across this one for super deal.

Speaking of Dremels, I think mines about ready for a new head. Bearings sound bad.

Is the Golf a gas burner or diesil? I'd love to have one of those diesils in my Suzuki Samurai. There is a kit available, but the motors are scarse around here.

She's gas.
My wife has a Nissan Almera turbo diesel. Ooooh that jokers fast!

I didn't know Nissan had diesils. Your in Europe though aren't you? Alot of vehichles you can't get diesils in the US are offered in diesil in Europe. The Samurai is one of them.

I got two very nice 'gifts' for Christmas! Two ponds/lakes/puddles to sail in. Just as soon as it worms up a bit! Uh... make that as soon as it warms up a lot...

I came up short on the gift detail. No surprises there, I'm about the only non-Jehovah's Witness in my family. The up-side of that is that I didn't have to spend much on gifts, the down side is that I didn't receive any. Oh, well, what can you do???

You can take that money that you would of spent on other peoples gifts, bundle it all together and pick up something nice for yourself. Bring it home put Jingle Bells on the radio & open it up! :D

For gifts RC related. This year my wife & I decided to pick out our own special gift. I of course searched and found a used rig w/ everything & extras. Weather here yesterday was awful (almost as bad as up north) so I just ended up playing with it in the garage. Started her up and checked things over. Seems like a major winner!!!! Going to go run her at the lake in a hour or so. (soon as the sun comes up)

Also recieved a new OS-40 engine from my sister in law. (Gotta love it :D )
I will find a home for that one, or just may have to put something together for it.

2xdog, think trailer or roof rack for that Golf.
From my wife I got tools and (yuck! :D) clothes. I did shop for myself, the Sport 40 was an early gift to me. I had a Sullivan Model 4 starter show up on Christmas Eve that I badly needed.

Well I knew in advance on this but I finally got to really look them over yesterday. My kids got me a set of Newton's plans for the 57' Miss Supertest III. Ive been slowly gathering up the things to get started but I dont have a garage to build it in. I have a 12' x 16' shed with power and water that I have been reorganizing to allow a workbench and desk in. It is almost ready.

R/C? What's that? The girlfriend bought me a jumbo set of Dremel accessories a few weeks ago. Found an electric 3.5 horse 16" chainsaw and a Dremel detail sander in the "Scratch & Dent" room at the local Sears Repair Center. I was shocked to get her approval to buy them, so I guess I can call them Christmas gifts.

I've been considering several upgrades (motor cooling jacket or coil, switching to inboard rotating props, and metal props) to my Villian EX, however, I'm unsure if the time and money is worth the effort. Does anyone have experience with these modifications? Can you suggest other performance enhancements?

Scorpion, who is doing the shipping? UPS, Fedex or DHL?

You mean counter-rotating props! OK. It can be done to an extent on that boat. You have to get matched motors to do it, some manufacturers already make them plus you have to get a set of props that come in both left and right drive. Therein lies the problem. Octura only makes them in the X430 (too small) and X447 (too large) that are close to your needs. If they had them in the 437-440 range you would be set. The advantage of counter-rotating props is less problems with propwalk.

They come counter rotating - he's wondering whether he should switch the direction of both so it is counter rotating the other way (i'm not explaining this very clearly here)

I never done that, but if I am not mistaken. Rotating in/down >,(more control/stable)
Rotating out/up> big rooster!

big rooster is good. if anything it'll make you think you're going fast. ;)

Well Scorpion, I work for DHL and I can tell you that all of us (ups, fedex, and DHL) have our primary sort centers in kentucky, tennessee, and ohio. All of us had huge delays resulting from those massive snow and ice storms in these areas. Freight was back logged for several days. There were two days right before christmas where the planes never made it in. Planes couldn't even take off to get here due to freezing. It took a week to catch up for us.

My paycheck was hung up in Memphis. It's a good thing that I had money in the Bank! My wifes Aunt was held up in Cincinnati for 2-1/2 days trying to get a flight out of there.

Okay, Santa has a late delivery coming my way.... PSR Wave Fighter mono. Deal is sealed now & layup should be started this week, putting arrival around mid Feb. Its a carbon hull & we've decided to go a step further & get it reinforced along with having the hatch mounts installed. It'll then be sent to my buddy who's going to install the ali- rails & mount the box. Gesh, & to think when you have no time, something like this comes along.

Well, I got a Micro Flyer that after a few flights, did a spiral down into my Golden Retriever puppy's yard. Ah well, not too much damage from my energetic dog, fust a few major repairs:)
