Why will this motor run good one cut and the next it runs like crap?I had 2 pro motors and I would do my testing on my indy dyno and I would break them in on my dyno and then do a testing run.First few cuts and it would run at around 14 to 15 amps.I would say about 3 cuts later they wont pull more than 7 amps.Is there some thing I am missing? The hoods have not been tampered with other than cleaning and new brushes and I have been using the same type of brushes. What gives?
Don't know how true it is, but reading some of 'Big Jim's' comments on motors and he says the Epic Binary are no good. Don't know if that is related to what you are seeing or not. Just thought I would pass along what I read....

To be honest, I'm not sure what the deal is with them, but I have gotten similarly mixed results with those. It seems that I'd have to use a different kind of brush every few times I rebuilt one to get some decent power out of them again, kinda like they have multiple personality disorder. Eventually, I just gave up & went back to Monsters & have been pretty happy ever since......

Well I know i am going back to monster stock for the reliyablity.I think it might have something to do with the magnets.

i have 2 epic mod a 12 turn & a 9 turn when i cut my coms i had the same decrease in power with new original brushes.what com lathe did you use?i just bought my first,an integy auto super lathe with carbide,i massaged the 12 turn a little & got most of it back i am going to try polishing the com next i feel it has something to do with the lathe cause when i cleaned the comm with an eraser & used original brushes there was no decline in power all season in the 12 turn i only ran the 9 one weekend before & it was ballistic before i cut the com let you know what happens

i have an epic binarary to and i noticed that if you take a fast cut on the latheyou get a good surface but not smooth if you can understand that that is when i was getting the differnt amp draw so i guess try to get a slow cut and try ot get the com as clean an smooth as possible it works great for me the motor that is :D :D :D
