If you can find Inventor for $800 ya better buy it fast.
Program is $5,500.00 easy.
Lucked out and bought my personal copy for $600 on ebay.
You can get the student edition CD taped in the back of tutorial books at your local computer store.
Be sure you are getting the right thing before you buy it, the books are $50-$75 and no refund if you open the CD.

02-11-2006, 09:30 PM
my teacher said inventor 8 was $800 right now.whats the student edition?cant you download a the program to a flashdrive or a dvd?
supernitro_guy1
02-12-2006, 02:04 AM
yeah, its about 5,500 for inventor 9 now, inventor eight its probably a little cheaper. i could put it in a dvd of flash drive, illegally, id rather not, plus you need to register and stuff, so it probably wouldnt work for ya, but yeah, studetn editions come with tutorials and its easier to get started.

And thanks for the compliments justin, yes, some of those took hours and hours, and this thread will probably be very well alive during this summer as i'll have more than my share of free time, you might be seeing some new things and ideas you've never seen before in an RC, i have some cool stuff in my head, but we'll see, school is over in like 3 more weeks though.

Hey,
I love what you guys do, i bought a small CAD program, and am teaching myself how to use it, and i am starting so make a T-maxx Chassis, and after that i will go nto the rest of the truck, but i am not nearley as good as you guys.
Ok, i got this TurboCAD Deluxe(not recomended, you cant add textures, and you cant round out edges of 3D objects) but anywayse, i just got this program yesterday, and was up almost all night making this and teaching myself how to use it, its not done, but i am excited aout my little work, any comments would be cool
I guss its not really that good, but its a start

BTW, Ive now learned how to use photoshop and Coreldraw, so Im expanding my "design" program expertice :)

thats looks very tight, clean and neat.
now 5 grand for a program IMO is plain rediculous, take zmodeler for an example, its a free program and you can do exactly that, model stuff with virtual mesh, enlighten me on what else this 5 grand program can do, cause to be honest, for that much it better pour me a drink as well :D
I am not sure it is worth 5 gran, but my school has it and it is by far the best cad program I have ever used, bar none.
Well, I've used a few CAD programs, and trust me, some are much better than others. I was using AutoCAD 2006 last, but after seeing how much more capable Inventor is, I decided to get it. I'm currently purchasing it at 98kb/s, so it's gonna be a while, but that's ok, I don;t have much time to play anyway.

Wow, thanks alot fot that, and I will certainly look into it, and let you know if i find anything. im sure this inventor 8 thT im using has declined in price big time because at school we are using inventor 11 already, so you might wanna check ebay and see if you find anything, but i wil certainly ask around and see if i know of any quality programs.

it takes weeks of 9-10 hour days. Most of the work is in the design, modeling it is the easy part. :D
just to show you some detail, in that pic of the pod you can see all the valves mounted to the sides. Here is a cut away of one of the valves. You can see all the springs, o-rings, and internals are fully detailed.
