after spending about 2 weeks asking questions and investigating this is what I ended up with (though some of the stuff is still on order)...

Car: Associated TC3 team
Radio: Futaba 3pjs
ESC: Novak Cyclone TC
Motor: P2K pro
Body: still undecided
Charger: astro flight 115D
plus a bunch of extras...

Venture hobbies in Wheeling, IL helped out a lot on this decision, they were VERY knowledgeable and cut great prices, beating or matching Tower on everything... plus, since Tower and Venture are both in IL I would have to pay shipping AND tax at Tower... worked out to where they saved me about 80 bucks over what Tower would have cost...

everything should be in by Friday, I'll be spending the weekend building and prepping the car... not to mention a little play time to get used to everything...

That's a lot of money! Do you plan to race it. Or just have fun. With that kind of equipment I assume you are racing. Are you new to R/C? What kind of Batteries did you get?

I'm actually pretty new to this game and yes I do plan on racing it (kinda pointless not to with this setup, huh???)... for playing and practicing I bought a couple sticks of 1700mah, but for racing I've got a couple matched sticks of 2400mah NiCd... haven't decided about NiMH yet, maybe a little later down the road if I can justify the added cost...

My question is why don't they make Lithium Ion batteries??? these things are HALF the weight of NiMH with slightly better capacity...
