I was wondering if any companies besides Tamiya made a stadium truck that is like the real ones? Ya know, like Baja trucks? I have a Tamiya TAO2 off road(F150) and i want something for my brother to race me with that is similar.

I did some researh and it seems "stadium truck" refers more to monster trucks. The correct term for trucks like the Tamiya would be " baja" truck. Anyway, does anyone know of other companies that make one? Could I use shorter arms and thinner tires on something like a rustler?
Schumacher has a sweet .21 powered baja truck 1/10 scale that the call desert storm. 2.2hp@30,000rpm over 50mph+ 0-40 in 1.5 seconds, tuned pipe, bb's, and 90%factory assembled. I like it a lot, I just dont know if you can take it off anything but small jumps.

Kyosho Landmax series has a .21 powered "baja" truck. If you don't want to race gas and electric get another Tamyia. They have a Chevy S-10 and a Toyota that use the same chassis so neither of you would have an advantage- except the person who was driving the CHEVY.

The shumacher is a stadium truck(like a gt), with a .21 engine in it. I made a baja truck out of my HPI rally. I got a HPI silverado body and cut the bumper off below the grill and inlarged the wheel wells. THe only problem is that I had to remove the rollbar from the inner body. I recommend a newer rally chassis such as the HPI, Associated, or Losi. They seem to give a little more durability and performance than the Tamiya.

DeSmet, Is that silverado body the 190mm one? Is there any other modifications you made to the HPI rally, besides the bumper and wheel wells? And is there enough suspension travel and ground clearence to hit decent sized jumps and go through ruts?

JP trust me the schumacher can take any kind of jump you can throw at it. ps DeSmet is right the schuie is similar to a gt or losi stadium truck. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

The body is 200mm. Other than the aforementioned changes, the rally is basically stock. As for the suspension travel, it the same, about 1.5 to 2 inchs. There is a secret to jumping, but I haven't been able to master it yet. It can get through most terrian as long as you keep up the momentum. I recommend get a reversing esc.
Good Luck

one that i like, which is relatively new, is the nitro demon from duratrax. they have an awesome warrentee on their plastic parts, called the stress tech or something, and its .21 nitro powered, and is almost like the landmaxx from kyosho.

Hate to say it, but the body on the Nitro Demon is uglier than the one that comes with the Quake. It would be the first mod I would do. 86 the body!!!

I don't pretend to know the jargon amoung R/C racers, but in the full scale world there couldn't be more of a difference between a monster truck and a stadium truck.
Monster truck = bigfoot, car crusher type.
Stadium truck = a buggy with a vaguely p/u truck looking platic body mounted on it. They race em on short tracks that fit inside an arena.
No???

ummmm. rowdie. how bout no? lol. the stadium trucks (real ones) are totally different from teh buggies. they are different sizes. they have different engines, (i think) and they have different sized tires, and longer shocks, and have very different make ups in like chassis and stuff liek that.

The company CEN makes a "baja truck", unless the Tamiya is different from the full size ones

When I watch the plastic bodies tear off stadium trucks they look a whole lot like a buggy to me. Do they even put the engine in front anymore? Or is it mid mounted like baja 'trucks'. Is the suspention solid rear axle or independant? In anycase they don't look like lader box body on frame trucks you find at ford, jeep, chevy, Dodge, or Toyota. I'm clearly no huge consouir of the sport, but I do catch it from time to time.
Even if they are close to these trucks they're still a long az way from monster trucks, which was really the point.
