Hello All,
i have come to the conclusion that i will need a new touring car before i start racing next season. It will probably be a second hand rolling chassis because purchasing off road buggy aswell and don't have the $$$, i want a cheap car (preferrabaly belt) but i will get a shaft drive car if thats the case. I'm leaning towards a xxx s in the belt drive catagory and a Tc3 in the shaft catagory. i don't want to go over the 100 dollar mark if possible. Any other car suggestions welcome.
Help will be appreciated. Thanks

As a recent purchaser of a vehicle off E-bay my addvice is to get on-line and look it up. I spent 2 weeks saving vehicles to my favorities and watching auctions of comparable rolling chassis, vehicles with motors, semi-RTR and RTR's. I can honestly say in the last week I saw 4 or five rolling chassis go for around 75 to 100 depending on the list of hop-ups. Go to the sell section of this board also. I saw a used TC3 rolling chassis listed for 75. Good luck with your purchase.

Have you thought of the T-Spec?

That T-spec looks pretty good. Which do you think would be better a Tc3 or a T-spec? Also which is better for racing belt or shaft? My car that i have now is shaft and it is pretty quite but i went to the local track and i think they all had belt drive cars. They look so simple and sound silky smooth. Can the shaft cars be as quite as the belt cars?
Thanks

Thequestion of belt or shaft drive is on topic you will never get a stait answer, for most drivers it's one or the other and thats is all to it for them. I have owned and driven both belt and shaft. I my opinion the shaft driven cars are better, but that is just my opinion. I woulud go with the TC3, but if you can afford it and get a hold of a TC4 go with the TC4. The TC4 drives like no other and I sware by it, even though I have only had it for a week.

If you are planning on racing in stock or modified class, then don't get a
T-spec. If you want to race in T-spec class, then get a T-spec. I own a xxx-s graphite and a tc3 team edition. I like driving both. Currently the tc3 is set up for tight tracks and the xxx-s is set up for a more open track. You'll be happy with either. If your not in a hurry, checkout e-bay. With the introduction of the TC4 and the JRX-S you should be able to find a great deal on both the TC3 and the XXX-S. I'm thinking about selling my TC3 Team and getting a factory.

A Mam, I would go with the TC4 not the Factory Team TC3. The TC4 is cheaper than the TC3 Factory Team and is a much better car all around.

A-man1234 which is quieter your tc3 or your xxx-s. Which car do you think will perform better on the same type of track. Thanks

I think between those 2 cars it depends on the driver and how good the car is setup ofcourse.

from track experience i would say the xxxs is quieter. belt vs shaft aside the xxxs is a better car because the steering system is way better, it has beefier parts. the outdrives on the xxx-s hold up better than on the tc3. A guy at my track running a Novak 5800 in a tc3 went through outdrives like crazy and with my 5800 on the xxxs, i have had the same outdrives since I bought the kit a year and a half ago with little slop. If you really want a shaft car You should spend the extra money on a tc4. I beleive they beefed it up more than the tc3 and they switched over to bellcrank steering.

Dear chadori rc'erm
I think I would have to agree that the XXX-S is quieter, but not by much. If I worked on my gearing and suspension set up, I'm sure I could use the TC3 for flowing tracks and the XXX-S for tight tracks.
If you dig up alittle extra money for one of the newer cars great. If not, you will be very happy with a TC3 or XXX-S.
If you look at the top ten finishers at the last world championships, you will see they are all the newer chassis. I don't remember the order other than Marc Rheinard finished first with a Tamiya 415 and Hara finished second with a pro4. There were the following cars in the top ten (I'm doing this from memory) :
(2) HPI pro 4
(2) Losi JRX-S
(2) Team Assoicated TC4
(2) Yokomo MR4TC SD
(2) Tamiya 415
None of the older chassis were in the top ten.

Go for the TC4, it's based on a proven champ. And again the TC4 just Rocks. :D

I have seen a Yok in action and it was very fast. The TC4 or a TC3 would suit your needs as well. Be sure to pick one with parts support, especially if you're not the best driver. ;)
