Newly available from Serpent is this ultra efficient and performance-enhancing front CV (constant velocity) driveshaft set. Designed for use on the Serpent 950 and 950R the power delivery to the wheels has been improved because the drive shafts are permanently attached to the wheel axles. Apart from the added benefit that you will no longer lose drive shafts in the case of an impact, also the wear on parts has been greatly reduced due to the fact that the shafts no longer move around in their drive slots and due to the ultra high quality steel used on all the parts.

Another feature of this set is the new wheel axles that allow the racer to use both the supplied quick release and fixed wheel mounting system on the same wheel axle. The aluminium wheel nuts use rubber o-rings to ensure that they don’t come lose and allow the wheel to spin truer. The user can change between both systems in a very short time and can easily install the shorter than original quick release springs for longer races that may require a tire stop.

Comes in a set of two and includes all the necessary parts to complete installation. This set also comes with full instructions.

Available December 2004

Why CV shafts are option in 1/8 on-roads?? As i recall they give better acceleration, less backlash, so in such high performance cars like these it should be on all 4 corners

Onroads don't have the supsension travel offroad cars have so there isn't nearly as much movement in the driveshaft.

Hmmm...not one mention of the the word Hudy...or Spring Steel...

The Serpent die-hards have been saying that the split was a US distributorship only as Xray is still linked with Serpent in some countries...I wonder if Hudy is no longer goign to be supplying Serpent with components....the colour does seem a bit off too....

I wonder who they are made by?

but theyr said to give more acceleration as i know, not only about extreme angles

Hmm I dunno about "better" as in faster acceleration. There's no more energy being created, and I don't think a dog bone is any less efficient... But I do understand having less backlash, that has several benefits...

But all in all ADA made a great point, you'd think this would be included in such a high dollar kit...

thats what i read here and in RCN that less backlash give more accelerartion. Or maybe its more eficient. Wierd But it looks very nice

Well, they definitely look Hudy inspired and is one of the classic XRAY/Hudy designs for sure. I'm willing to bet it is spring steel. Who else would risk making a CV so thin? ;)

However, I just hope that the whole Serpent/XRAY/Hudy family would stay together.

The reason they dont have them is because the power would destroy a regular MIP CVD in that application. Keep in mind the forces that a driveshaft has placed on it in an 8th scale onroad is alot more than anything else pretty much (between the weight, power, grip and that you are running a front one way and rear spool). Them cross pins and stuff have to be BEEFY! lol. But many nitro sedans dont include CVD's either...
