There is a new RC track that just opened in Gold Coast, Queensland. The location is in Mudgeeraba, next to the Pacific Highway, close to Robina. This is the Murwillumbah (far far away) RC club that moved up here to try to get more people in the club.

Location:
Below is a map and the red circle marks the inlet street where it leads to a fully surfaced, very large netball court, some 100 x 30 yards in dimensions which is part of a large sporting complex.

The PVC pipe track only occupies a portion of the netball courts and is laid out early Sunday morning and packed up in the afternoon.

(The guy on the red shirt [Chris] is the one to beat in 1/8th and 1/10th nitro)

Memberships are AU$35 (Adults) and race fees are AU$10 for non members and AU$5 for members. Memberships are only available several times during the year. I don't know why - but its a bit lazy my opinion when any other tracks receive memberships all year around.

The track is temporary and talks are ongoing with the city council to build a permanent track in an empty land lot adjacent to the courts - but who knows when that gets done.

Days racing:
Sundays only

Cars supported:
* 1/10 nitro
* 1/10 electric
* 1/8 nitro (only 4 people!)
* no large gas scalers as of yet

Lap counting:
Track timing is by AMB (?) and transponders are free to use - but break it and you'll have to replace it :D

Food & Drinks:
There is a little permanent canteen in the adjacent building where you can get basic softdrinks, water, pies, sausage rolls, and burger. But most people bring their coolbox and their own supplies.

Registration:
Make sure you register by 8.30am or you won't be racing - I came in at 10am and could only look around.

Tips:
1. Come early! There are people that is already there at 6.30am

2. Bring a tent + table or anything that covers your head as there is no permanent shade area except a single tree

3. Bring back the transponders ASAP after your race - too many people are too lazy to bring it back and race gets delayed again and again

4. Turn OFF your radios ASAP after you race - several incidents and crashes happen due to this small mistake.

Comments:
It looks organised enough (I digress, I still don't know what class is running next and they don't tell you, you just need to listen to the computer talking through a loudspeaker) and people is not particularly friendly, some are downright snobbish - especially if I didn't meet this one friendly racer, I wouldn't be coming back. Its going to be tough for the club to get new racers if you don't know any of the current people there especially with the unwelcome attitude. But its only my first visit so my opinion could change over time. Plus its a track 5 minutes from my place - I can't really complain on that! :D

1/8th scales there is only a serpent racer (the race organiser) and the rest a bunch of MRX3/4s. The top 2 guys run my engine - Novarossi RX21 R1WC Kangaroo but are JP Modifieds :p And to say the least, both are very fast.

Most cars are 1/10 nitro and 1/10 electric. So myself being 1/8th, I have little competition.
