do radio's wear out? I have an old futaba 2pb sport that needs a new antenna and servo, its range isn't very good would a new antenna solve the problem the original is broken about 2/3 to the top should I just get a new radio

A new antenna would definitely help (I had the same problem)

if your antenna is broken, then yes a new antenna will improve the range. if you want to get a new radio, it's all up to how much money you have to spend and if you want to spend it. i use a aitronics caliper 3ps from like 4 or 5 years ago and have no problems with it at all..

Antenna's most definitely make a difference. An old trick when I used to fly R/C on the old style radios was to test range with the antenna collapsed. You would work a servo and walk backwards until it no longer activated. IIRC, it was a minimum 100' or you had a problem. Of course, once the antenna was extended, you could fly the plane as far as you could see it.

My reciever wire broke which shortened the range, but i found that my LHS had an ample supply of replacement antenna wires. After fixing that, my futaba attack 3 has been working great ever since i bought it in 92 or 93. Youll most likely drop it and break it before it will "wear out."

Ok, I have a Futaba Attack 2ch stick radio that I bought in 1986, yes '86 and it still works ok. But after all this time the skinny segment broke off and the reciever antena wire is a little nicked up. Do they still make antennas for my radio? And how about that little antenna wire from the reciever?
