What do you guys think of the Duratrax IntelliPeak Digital Pulse charger and the IntelliPeak Twin Pulse Charger? Right now I have a rather old Tekin BC110L. I need something that will charge Ni-MH's. Any other charger selections would be good too. Thanks

The digital pulse is great, except sometimes it false peaks. Figure out about how long it should take to charge, and then if it peaks to early, just hit the button again. the formula for time to charge: Amp capacity of battery (for a 3000, it would be 3) divided by cahrging rate (lets say 4 amps) times 60.

So in this case its
3/4 x 60 = 45 minutes.

As for the twin pulse, its only good if you run two cars at once, and need to charge two batterys. And its maximum charge rate is 3.5 amps. Dont get it unless you have two cars driving at once, or and EMaxx that takes two batterys etc.

I have the plain old intellipeak charger and it charges pretty good. I repeak after a charge anyways so I should be OK. One advantage the original plain intellipeak has is the integrated power supply. But it could be a disadvantage too. The regular intellipeak doesn't have a fan so it gets pretty hot. I solved that problem by getting a 120mm fan (or maybe it's a 180mm) and made a little stand out of a wire clothes hanger. I used wound up electrical tape as feet and an old Radioshach 12v power supply. It fits right over the intellipeak and moves a LOT of air. The advantage is that I can place the battery on the fan so as the fan moves air AWAY from the charger, it also cools thge battery as it's charging. Killing 2 birds with one stone.

Wow, my first post! hehe. Anyways, I just bought a Duratrax IntelliPeak Digital Pulse Charger. Seems to work great. I bought it because I was using an 13-14year old Kyosho Peak Charger (plus I'm just getting back into RC again)hehe. Plus I needed something that can use AC also. Well the charger is pretty good to me. It has fans on both the AC unit when you plug it in, as well as the charger itself. They are kinda loud I guess. But it's no biggie to me. As far as the false peaks, I haven't experience it yet. But thanks for the warning. I'll look out for it. I do use the Mah meter (on the charger) though so I know how much it packed into one of my batteries. So I know if it packed in say 2295mah into one of my 2000mah packs, I know it got a full charge. Anyways, it's a great charger to me on my budget. If you get one, I hope you enjoy it! :D

I have the Intellipeak Deluxe.

It does have a tendency to false peak on any pack I have that are not made with matched cells. I peak a couple times anyway so it's not a big deal.
I have noticed that the more I use my unmatched stick packs with this charger some of them have stopped false peaking.

My a/c power supply broke after 2 months. Sent it back and it was repaired and returned to me within 2 weeks.

If I was to buy another it would be the digital, just for the added information it can provide about the battery status.

I've always wondered why everyone has problems with the Intellipeaks. I have the Digital and in 50 charge cycles, I've had 0 false peaks. That's right... nill.

And I have a good variety of packs, too. 1500 and 2000 sport packs (unmatched) and one matched 2000. Because of this, I recommend the Digital to anyone. The only problem I have is the mAH counter. Once it reaches 1999, it starts over again at 0. So if your battery has a capacity of 2089 mAH, the charger will say 89 mAH. It really doesn't make a difference, but it's seems like an easy fix and I wonder why Duratrax didn't fix it during their second charger run.

I have the Digital charger-seems to be working fine and the battery info is useful-I have a few packs that are thre or four years old so extra info useful on whether these packs are still useable. :D

I bought my digital pulse intellipeak about 3 weeks ago. Worked awesome until it just stopped in the middle of a charge and never turned back on. 1 year warranty so I sent it back to the company with the receipt and am awaiting a response. I'll let ya know what happens.

KingKong - where you using the power supply that came with it? if so then you probably popped the fuse, it did it on mine when i owned one and I just used my other victor power supply but a month or so ago someone posted the same problem and it was the fuse in the power supply. Your case might be different.

as for ctaylor8211 I would stick with something other than tekin based on them going out of business and there are some great chargers out there the perform better than them.

I would get a duratrax or an integy charger or equivalent that can handle 3000's do not know about the 3000hv batteries though.

Stick with companies that still exist! Even though there is a rumor that Reedy might buy them out or something - scoop from an informant that I know.

Good luck on your selection!!!!

I have the bottom-end intellipeak charger. It has false peaked EVERY time I have used it. It's the worst charger I've ever had. Charges my nickel metals, though, so I guess I'll keep it for awhile.

If I had it to do over again, I probably would get the new MRC Superbrain. I just can't see buying an expensive DC only charger, then having to fork out more cash for a power supply.
