I had a bad day running my boats today... it started off good but then when my home made servo mount busted the 50" boat was going around in a circle untill finaly it ran into the shell coated beach and scrached up the hull... :o
so I decide to run my tunnel hull to test out the boost bottle.....
it was running great for one tank of fuel... (the rc club wasn't there today (they come on sunday)so the cop wasn't there with the radar gun so i couldn't tell if the boost bottle improved preformance... it seemed like i had more punch at low end but i couldn't tell for sure) so anyway after 1/2 of the next tank the servo push/pull rod busted for the stearing, the boat dug into the water and almost flipped... I thought it was ok but then it started sinking. Then it flipped over and all that was sticking up out of the water was the two sponsons......
I was able to save the reciever but the two servos were waisted.....
sometimes I don't understand why I have this hobby anyway.....

Did you happen to walk under a ladder, break a mirror, and kick a black cat at the same time while walking down to the water? :o
Don't feel too bad. My dad was flying his plane at the local flying field one day and had just taken off when a Transfer Truck went by with a kicker on his CB. He lost control and the plane went full throttle straight down into the ground. He liked building them better than flying anyway.

Want a puppy? One of our dogs just had 10 of them last Sunday, it was one of the females. :D
I keep telling you guys about getting some electrical waterproofer for your RX's and servos. A $15.00 bottle is only expensive when you don't use it, the price of a cheap servo. I've had RX's and servos completely immersed in water, drained out the water and had the boat back on the pond in minutes. I've been using Aeroplate but Corrosion X and The Stuph plus others will do the job too.
BTW, I've got quite a few dead ones in the basement too because of not using any of the above.

I just don't understand how you guys fail all that stuff. My worse days of RC boat racing were with a Sport 40 hydro (engine breakage - but I won't go into that). Running gas I seldom lose or break anything (knocking on wood). You can get Corrosion Block at West Marine. It's kinda like Corrosion-X. Also build your radio box tight and use paper towels inside to catch the water that does get in before it can do any harm.

I got the Aeroplate through a LHS. It's made by Aerotrend, the people that make tuned pipe couplers. Most Hobby Shops can get it but most don't know what it is.
Climate Boatworks sells some identical spray, Rocket City Racing has Corrosion X. I'm sure that other Dealers sell other products. I've heard that Radio Shack has something that they sell also.

Now, that's curious. I've had my bad days, soaking electronics in a box that wasn't quite as waterproof as the advertising stated or one would have hoped. I never lost anything over it, though. Disassembly and drying everything out, and it worked as good as new.
Of course, I'm running in freshwater ponds and some of you guys in Florida are running in various levels of salt water, could that have something to do with it?
