hey....a week or so ago i had asked some questions about racing and after recieving some solid advise, I did a little research and bought my first touring car the Team Losi xxx-s Graphite Plus....
it's currently set up with a futaba magnum sport tx, navak explorer 2 esc, trinity p2k2 motor
after I've had some time to practice driving it a while, I'm going to start racing with it. Do you guys have some recomendations as to what kind of parts, accessories, tools, etc I should start looking to pick up before trying to compete with this car? Maybe some suggestions as to what I should watch out for with this new car?....anything helps as I am very new to hobby level rc, thanx...

Ask the local guys what tires you should use on your track: They are about the biggest tuning change you can make to your car. The car itself shouldn't need anything as far as options.
The best thing you can do for racing is to practice. Just go to the track and run lap aftr lap, and learn the lines and where to get on and off the throttle. That will help more than anything you can buy for a car.

I agree, practice will help a great deal. Information concerning what items you will need along with setup (tire compound, motors, gearing, spring and oil rates) the best information is always from the racers at your local track. Most guys now use a rollout formula in quoting what gearing works for a particular motor and track. If someone quotes you the rollout you will need to know the tire size (distance across multiplied by pi-3.14 multiplied by transmission ratio 1.83 for xxxs divided by gear ratio spur divided by pinion). To find what pinion to use with the quoted rollout, 4.58 example)
4.58 divided by (tire size 2.40 x pi=7.536 or 7.54 x 1.83 = 13.79 or 13.80) 13.80 = .3318 x spur (78) = 25.886 Pinion would be 25 or 26 tooth.

My advice is not to sweat the details. Have fun racing and do it as often as you can if you want to get better. I started about two years ago and the best advice I ever recieved was to stick with what equipment I had. Some guys think deep pockets means winning races - not always true. For example, one guy was using a $150 charger and another was using a $350 charger - guess who won - that's right, the guy using the cheaper equipment. As you grow as a racer, you'll eventually see the need for better equipment but not now. Just because someone says you need this or that gizmo doesn't make it right -use your noodle. Also, after a couple races you'll find you'll have a lot of questions. Get with someone friendly (most guys are at the track) who's willing to help. The biggest mistake I see with newbies is trying to pretend they know everything and are going to set a new track record their first time out - don't expect anything big. :) Take eveything anyone says to help you to heart.
Good luck and welcome to this hobby - It's one of a kind.

I agree, take it a step at a time and have fun with it, get used to the car and note how it responds to different situations, if you feel you need to improve or correct something that is affecting your driving or car ask someone at the track for help theres always someone out there that well give you a hand, RED

If you havn't already, pick up a good set of hex drivers. If you don't, you'll be stripping out screws like crazy.
The G+ doesn't really need anything. One problem i had with mine is that the supplied servo saver kept movin around and messing up my steering. Yours could be fine though. Also if you are gonna use stick packs you need to secure them to the battery holder with a ziptie or something because they like to slide out.

thanx for the info so far.....i quit trying to play competetive paintball so i could spend more positive time with my family, with a more enjoyable hobby. believe me.....when i go to race, i'm going to have the same amount of fun, first place or last....basically, i'm just looking for the kinds of spare parts, or equipment i'll need to stay on the track....so far i have hex drivers on the list. I already have 2 3000Mah side by side battery packs and a charger, should i plan on buying extra wheels/tires, bettery packs...etc... I think my current setup would put me in the stock class, and that's what i'm shooting for. I'm just wanting to have fun with this hobby...thanx guys for the help.

MC,
For parts you may want to look at some spares of the following, hubs, hub carriers, A-arms, extra screws, threadlock, ball cups. Things that you may wind up breaking in a race and need in order to get your car back on the track for the main. A few extra pinions are good to so you can gear up or down as needed. Hope this helps.
