Yeah, and only $100.00 more than before!
Thunder Tiger is also making a come-back with theirs.

$350 for an outboard. WoW.

I'll say it again... $350 for an outboard. WoW.

Think the price might come down. Not like I'll be buying one anytime soon, but still interested. :)

If I was in the market again for a new 3.5 OB motor, I'd hold off for the new Irwin that is coming out soon. It will be competitively priced and should be a screamer. It will be stock class legal.

Yup, could have been. I didn't even bother going to the link, I knew what it was. Still, the price going up a C-note with very little changes done to it. I think that they changed the sleeve in it but otherwise still the same motor. I paid that much for my MAC .45! I think that I could build up a MAC .21 OB for that price.

I'd wait for the T/T. I am planing on building a nice little O/B play boat. I liked O/Bs because of the easy clean up and maintaince.

Heck if I could have found one of these QD or Zenoah powered units it would be hanging off the back of my Team Enforcer :D !

the os has 1.3hp for $325 and the k&b sx has 1.3hp for $349

the K&Bss has 1.3hp too but it's not water cooled (something I don't like)

$349 for the K&B??? last time i looked around for one they were going for $289. personally, i'd rather have a K&B. they have proven their reliability to me and i would have a hard time switching over to OS. one of my K&B's is about 20 years old and all-out modified. it still runs like a champ. OS's support for boats seems to have been lacking the last few years...maybe they'll finally get back into it.

I have never run an os engine... I have one but I havn't fired it yet....

but I love my k&b 3.5 ob it runs very very relialble i honestly think it has stalled on me once...

oh and its 349 for the new K&B sx... not the regular...

Romeo, those are some cool gas OB's, aren't they? Imagine two of those on the rear end of a big offshore cat.

I think the OS saw that the K&B's were in short supply with the new ownership and went back to importing them. They really don't go out of production from what I know, they just wren't selling them for a while in the US.
I do know of one very happy OS OB owner that could start his motor with a flip of the fingers on the flywheel to show how well his fired up.

what are all of the brands of outboards that you can buy right now.. I only know of 3 k&b os and rossi....

Ron Olson

The Rossi, MAC, Nova Rossi and a few others are built to use the K&B lower units. The Irwin 3.5 OB should be out soon along with the Thunder Tiger.

I hunted ALL over for an OS to put on the back of a hull I bought from Ron. I found one last year new in box at the Toledo swap & have been more than happy with it. It always starts, runs great, & makes pretty good power. I can't tell you how happy I am that they are coming back, I'll feel better about getting replacement parts.

I thought I'd check in real quick. Boats kinda get put on the back burner in the winter. In fact, I'm wondering if I'll have enough time for my boats this spring. Been tossing around the idea of selling my BBY hydro. Remember, the wife got me a new airplane last spring that I never got into the air - so THAT takes first priority when it gets warm. Then, I still have to finish my bug. And then if I have time around the list of stuff the wife gives me, I can have time for the boats. I have WAY too much fun with my outboard, so that will never get sold. You gotta admit, that little OS starts & runs like a dream.

Hey folks. I noticed Mr Olson you had mentioned Thunder Tiger OB21. I happen to have one and was wondering are they a good engine. I am relatively new to RC boats
I had got what I thought was a great deal on it $160.00 new in box. Did I do well I am going to put it on a Preditor by Areomarine. What you think.
Appreciate any and all commments.

The only thing bad that I've heard about them is that the carb can be a bear to set up. I have seen some run and they do okay. There was a carb that fits in it that is easier to use but I can't remember what it was, that article was done a long time ago on another boating site. Don't mess with the low speed needle, that seemed to be where others messed up.
