If these are similar in design to the currently available Trinity motors, how do you plan on using a lathe on them ?

I specifically did not buy the long armature motors (550 vs. 540, I guess) for this very reason.

I think the new Trinity TruLathe 3 is capable of cutting the longer armatures.

I already saw these Reedy Maxx motors at my LHS yesterday. They look pretty cheap compared to the Trinity D4-based ones, but they're probably still great. They actually ARE cheaper, too. ;)

Uh, Nairb...what DOES your name mean? I always pronounce it as "Nair" (like the hair loser thingie) and then "B". Then I correct myself and say "Nairb" as a whole :)
