View Full Version : Best Electric Stadium Truck?

I'm trying to decide on an electric stadium truck. What is the best one? In terms of speed, durability, reliability, hop-up parts availability, handling, etc.

Hobbytown recommended the Losi XXX-T(?) or the Associated RC10T...

(I'm looking for a RTR, instead of a kit.)

Thanks for any help,
R.

Ok, wrong place to post, but your best bet would be to read the Losi XXX-T threads and the RC10T3/4 threads and see which tells of things you like.

With the RTR kits, the XXX-T beats the T3, I have no clue about it compared to the T4, but, what you should do, is find which seems to suit what you want to do (T3 would be best for bashing, XXX-T or T4 for racing), then see what your LHS has more parts for. If it carries more AE then Losi, then grab a T3 or T4, if it has more Losi, then problem solved.

I would so get a RTR RC10 T4. They are fast, and way durable out of the box. But dont skip the losi though, it has a much better radio, but the radio with the T4 will do just as good.

Ok, wrong place to post,

Why is this the wrong place to post? Where else would I post a question about a stadium truck, other than in "Electric Off Road"?

By the way, are these two trucks better than the Traxxas Rustler?

Thanks again,
R.

MUCH. The rustler is just way durable. Probably one of the most durable ST's out there. I would go with the xxx-t because its just as durable as a RTR t4 but with better electronics. But also see what your LHS carries.

This section of the forums has been mainly for starting vehicle specific threads to discuss one particular vehicle, not for new threads to ask questions. It might not actually be the wrong place, but to make yourself look less newbish, you should have read all about the trucks you were considering to get and make your own decision. I personally would choose the T4, but just because I love my T3 and the only place to go with this great truck from a company like AE would be UP! The XXX-T is a good truck, but it didn't feel right when I tested my friends, and seeing that my T3 waxes his (similar electronics, both with stock radio, both with MoT 13x2, me with an Mtroniks, him with a Novak). The losi doesn't appeal to me, and may not to others on here except for the better radio, but that could be contrary to what you would actually choose if you read about the trucks and made your own decision. Just because Bob and Joe like truck X better, truck Y may be what you would rather have had you given it a chance and not listened to Bob and Joe.

Sorry for rambling, but the average person is too lazy now a days, and considering how much info is on the forums if you would only search, you could probably find 5 other threads just like your's and you would find an answer without even asking. Just remember, the key to knowledge isn't always to ask, but to search and make your own opinion, usually people come out happier when something doesn't work and they chose it, then when someone told them to pick it and it doesn't, and when it does work, you know you made the right decision and can't give people credit for that achievement, this all may be all off topic, but it may help you in the future with your next purchase/fix/mod.

Almost any 1/10th scale truck would do. I presonally like the Electric Ruster... it's all up to what you like though?

Raster,

Good question. :) It is too bad some self-appointed important people are easily offended though and have to put down others to feel good about themselves. :(

I'm familiar with Losi and Associated products. They're both good. Since you are interested in RTR, the radio gear and esc quality should be the deciding factor.

btw: I have a question of my own (I know that is "newbish" and lazy, but I'll figure out someway to live with myself and maybe be worthy of some peoples respect.) Does anyone have, or know who is stocking, the electric XTM X-Cellerator? The price seems right for the RTR. Haven't found a dealer with one in stock though.

Regards,
byb

Wow. I just pulled up all of your posts and found many a fine example of questions that could have been answered with a simple search.

Rustler, I too struggled between an xxx-t, T4, and a rustler. I would drop the rustler if I were you. The other two are far more superior in the long run. Smack any of these cars into a curb at full speed and they will all break. I ended up with a losi xxx-t sport II and love it. The transmitter etc is great and the handling and suspension really stand out.

I have both as of now. I like certain parts of the Associated line better and the same goes for the Losi line. I have rebuilt both diffs. I like the Associated rebuild kits better. They are packaged complete. The Losi I had to piece together. Fit and finish seemed just a hair better on the Losi over the Associated...like a 9 for Associated and 10 for Losi. I like the clutch set up on the T3 over the XXX-T it seems alot more sound. They are both good trucks...to me its just about looks right now. Once you get really good, you might be able to tell the difference in handling and other stuff. I personally think my Losi looks better, but I like them all.
Here is a pic for you to see.
Losi XXX-T MF Edition on left and the two RC10 T3 Factory Team Edition center and right.
Good luck in your choice...you will be happy either way.

I owned a T4 and a T3, got to drive the XXX-T and the MF2, all were good vehicles. The T3 is very durable and is the main reason I got that for my newphew.

The T4 handles quite well, I liked it better than the stock XXX-T or MF edition.

The MF2 however is quite a vehicle. It accelerated better than my T4 had.

If I had to choose based on a RTR kit, I would say T4 as I believe the XXX-T RTR doesn't have all the changes on it that the MF2 incorporates.

If it did have those changes, I probably would say the XXXT RTR then as the electronics are better.

I would say go for the T4 RTR Special Edition. Its got a ESC that is actually good, the motor is ok, and the radio is pretty nice. The chassis quality and durablilty of the T4 vs. xxx-t is about the same, I find the T4 a bit easier to work on, and Associated parts are super easy to find everywhere. I would personally stay away from the rustler, the ESC it comes with is junk, the tranny is absolute junk (especially compared to a Losi or AE tranny), and its really not as capable as the T4 or xxx-t. Evidence of this can be seen from race results from around the world, AE and Losi dominate (even though a good driver can of course beat a lesser driver with a Losi or AE truck, but with equal drivers the AE or Losi will come out on top).

Rustler can still be quite competitive. I have raced a few guys in my class that have rusty's, and i have been beaten, but also, keep in mind, its also the driver that makes the truck competitive.

Also, the Rusty can be hopped up just like the rest. But, when it comes to better handling, i prefer my losi. Better then my old T4.

you racing or just fooling around? i'd have to say the associated trucks have the best electronics in RTR form...T4's are just in a class of their own..just my $0.2

for backyard action and 'daredevil' maneuvers I'd get an evader. i'd get the prebuilt version (~$120 w/ Sprint ESC), add a decent AM pistol (Futaba 2PL is really nice for the $$$, 2PH is competent or maybe even a Hitec Aggressor, both around $~45) and you'll be set. It's basically a Losi XX-T, circa 10 yrs ago. Nothing wrong w/ it...decent geometry, alum shocks w/ screw tensioners, full BBs, ball diff, slipper clutch, steel universal drives...maybe 7/8 as bulletproof as a rusty, but much MUCH better equipped!

and btw, that post by punkrock guy was really sad...when does a guy get a 'tude when he's doing a geek-nerd hobby like ours? where else do grown males spend hundreds (some even THOUSANDS) on little fantasy cars? C'mon man, this is all for FUN. Lighten up, punk!!! :)

I have been a Losi guy for years and I was going to make a jump to the T4 until I drove it. I am so use to the feel of my Losi trucks that I can tell a huge difference in them. I dont want to bash the T4 trucks but I was just uncomfortable with it. If your going to race lets be real if its not Associated or Losi its going to be hard to put it the winners circle. Bashing... go XTM or Traxxas or Duratrax.

who knows, maybe Kyosho will make a competition level truck again with there new racing team.
