Ok, here it go's
I just got a Traxxas Stampede and i already hate it b/c i wait 1 hour for it to charge (thats cooling too) and i get 5 YES 5  minuters of play! Now to me thats CRAP i think i am going to take it back and save for T-MAXX.

heres where i need your help...
I am Real new to RC cars but i dont think Nitro will be much harder (i live in a small town and i am going to be gettibng ot from a small shop AND the owner has a T-MAXX so i can ask him for help)
So do i keep the CRAP CAR or Get The Good One?
Thanks
(P.S. i am 13 so i cant just keep my stampede and get the t-maxx that would take to long to get all the money i need)

the stampede is a good truck. if ur getting 5 minutes of run time i envy you! that is really good for electric. what i suggest is getting a new charger. look into getting the Dynamite Vision Peak charger. it is around 60 to 70 dollars and is AC/DC compatible. i have one of these chargers and it takes around 15-30 minutes to charge a battery depending on the Mah of the battery. also, what i do while i charge is i point a fan at the charger and the battery... this keeps the battery cooler while charging and it keeps the charger cool as well. the stampede is a great monster truck and i'm sure that those 5 minutes of play you had where great! also, i would try and pick up a couple more batteries. good luck and have fun!

5 minutes is bad. Get rid of the "mod" motor and get a p2k for 25 bucks and a duratrax timed charger for 25 bucks. you should get 10 minutes of run time and 15 minutes to charger so get some tower batterys for 10 bucks and you have a bashing fun at a cheap price

you only get 5 mins of run time.... wow...
i thought electric lasted longer like 15 to 20 mins, i am into to nitro powered trucks
and am very satisfied with my run time, i'm sure the stampede is a very good, reliable, truck since it is a traxxas. i have a nitro sport and its alot of fun. if you have to have electric then try a different charger. i got some radioshack charger that i use for
my electric start battery and it only takes me 20 mins to charge it. or if i were you than i would get a t maxx. its nitro powered and they sell so many after market parts, you could always change how it looks . so i say get rid of your stampede (put it on ebay)
and go ahead and get that t maxx.

GOOD LUCK !
:) :)

The truck has nothing at all to do with run time, so dont say that the stampede is crap when ur batterys or ESC are crap. First off the reasons for low run time is trying to use 1500 mah cells with low turn motors. Next could be ur ESC beleave me when i say that a good ESC makes a big diffrance in performace and run time in an electric truck/car. Also who ever said a vision peak charger is $60 u must be crazy or live in canada  I payed $40 flat for mine. Next for the pede i'd drop in a P2K with a duratrax power pulse ESC and a pack of good 1700 cells. So dont ever blam a car or truck for run times.

rc all the way the Stampede is a good truck. The reason you are getting low run times is probably due to your battery. What is it's capacity?

i don't think that battery is big enough. if i had an eletric car i'd get a 3000. i'm not into electric that much but i'm pretty sure
3000 is better than 1500. i'd say it has something to do with run time and power.

HAHAHA UR STUPID (dont worry we are buds :D )

Seriously dude, u shouldnt have to charge for and hour, even after cooling. If you are so worried about cooling your battery just stick it in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer for a bit.

Ill talk to u online. :)

just work on your car while your battery is charging... try cleaning the bearings or transmission! you can find something to do for a half an hour!

it takes about 50 min to charge my 3000 and i dont mind the wait! (thats with out waiting for the battery to cool)

RC_All_Da_Way is right. Charging batteries takes about 20-25 minutes with an average peak charger. It takes about 20 or more minutes to let it cool(takes about 30 for my charger). That equals about 50 minutes on average. 50 minutes compared to 5 minutes is not worth it. Dump a little money into a good Novak ESC and a 1900mah battery. My E-Maxx can do 30 minutes with the EVX ESC and Maxx Paxx Battery packs(1900mah) when in first gear slow rock crawling but then again I can run my nitro car as long as I have fuel in my shed or I have to rebuild my engine(I have to rebuild my engine, car lost compression today).
Hope this helps

PS. No RC vehicle is "Crap", it's just not your style.

Sounds like you've got battery problems if anything. Not that the battery is bad, but if you've only got 1200 to 1700 mAh packs, you won't get great run time.
If you're frustrated with an electric, a nitro is going to push you in to Prozac country. There's very little motor tuning involved with an electric, whereas a nitro car needs at least minor tweaking of the needles, sometimes a few times a day.
Don't get me wrong, I love running nitro. When they're running properly, they're great.
Like someone said above, you may want to consider dropping a P2K in the Stampede. It'll still be pretty fast, have a ton of torque, and you'll probably get 8 to 10 minutes out of a 1700 mAh battery.
I don't blame you for wanting a T-Maxx, I've had mine for nearly a year and love it. But it hasn't always been easy. There's alot going on in a T-Maxx, so there's a bunch of things that can go wrong. If you can't solve problems on a 2wd Stampede, how easy do you think it'll be to work on a 4wd, reversing, 2 speed monster truck?
