my uncle works at an aluminum/carbon fibre factory...recently he brought over some cf sheet and blocks for me...measuring from about 2 mm to about an inch thick....i also have access to a mill....is it a good idea when i get my evader to replace all posible parts with home made cf ones using the original parts as a template...i don't think i'll do the chassis but what about things like shock towers, battery strap etc?

It'll make the truck extremely heavy, and will transfer impacts to pieces that aren't metal, causing it to break. I wouldn't do it, but what the hell, go for it!

a. how in the world will it make it heavier

b. if what you say is true than i will save up some money with time and replace all parts...but i still want more advice and feedback

b3guy, I think your confusing carbon fiber with aluminum. Porschefan, definatly replace all the parts you can, even the chassis if possible. It will be super light, and strong.

cool...i think he mixed up cf and alum.

It will be lighter, but probably weaker. Plastic has more flex than carbon fiber, so it can flex in cases when cf will break.

yes but when plastic will flex it will break...cf might not flex and there is a smaller chance it'll break.......i did a small test...i bent my plastic propeller off a boat and cracked it in half...with a cf prop i tried to bend it and nothing happened...didn't even change shape nor crack....i think it really is "tougher than steel" this is not the only test that i did but is just an example

Carbon fiber will have a less chance of breaking and bending than aluminum or plastic. In carbon fiber hood for cars, they have to put weak points in it so if you get in an accident it will break at those spots. Otherwise it could go right into the car and kill you :D So yeah, it will be stronger

Just to be safe, I would double up on things like shock towers and such like have 2 put together for extra strength but it sounds like a good idea to me!
