I want a new drill because my cordless is REALLY slow even on the "fast" setting. I am hoping for an electric drill thats really powerful (maybe 16V or so?), maybe variable speed and it MUST be able to countersink an aluminum and plastic chassis. Anyone have any ideas? I will get a cord drill if I have to, but they get kinda annoying after awhile. Thanks, JP

The dremel I already have and I dont know what the countersink bit is called. And the Sears drill can only have enough power to countersink soft wood like pine, it is hard to countersink plastic and imposiible for any metal including aluminum.

Man complaning your drill is to slow. I wish I had a electic screw driver any kind slow or fast. I just spend all my extra money on hopup parts rather than tool.

JP, head to Home Depot or any hardware store that sells Dremel stuff...they'll be able to tell you what counter-sink part you need. I've countersunk many a metal chassis holes w/my Dremel.

If you get a drill, check out the Cordless Nakita or DuWalt drills. The DuWalt rocks, and you can get by with a 12v. Remember, the higher the voltage, the HEAVIER it will be and it wears on you, no matter how strong you are. Get the lightest most comfortable one you can that will still get the job done.

I won't give up my 24 volt DeWalt cordless drill for ANYTHING! Man that thing rocks. It's way overkill for R/C stuff though. It'll put a 6" hole saw through 1.5" birch plywood without a problem though... and if it jams it'll twist your arm off! Also, half inch holes through 1/4" steel isn't a problem either, even on the high range of the gearbox.

And by the way JP, my older 15.6V Sears drill has no problem drilling and countersinking wood, plastic, aluminum, or even steel. Didn't even faze it unless I tried to drill too large of a hole without drilling a pilot hole first. Stainless and Titanium are a bit hard on it (as with any cordless drill), but that's why I have a milling machine and drill press =)

You'll be fine probably with anything 9.6V or greater, although I recommend at least 14.4. Be sure to spend the extra bucks and get one with a fast charger and a 2-speed gearbox, also try to get one with 2 battery packs. You won't regret it.

I would say that corldess/corded drills are very related to r/c. Especially since the only time I use one is when I'm working on my r/c car http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif So chill out rcracer! http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

Sears had a Craftsman cordless with the slipper clutch and I think 14.4V for $79.
