So I finally got some deans connectors and i soldered up to females to two batteries I have. After I finish i test the connection, and one pin won't go in all the way. It turns out that I heated the soldering tab up too much and it melted the surrounding plastic, putting it out of place. How can I solder up deans connectors perfectly without the use of a third hand and any stuff like that? Grrrr... Thanks ya'll!

do you have vice? or like a work table which slides open....close the deanz in there and do ur stuff...thats how i did it...make sure to preheat the soldering tool very good so you can do it fast enough without any meltdowns

I use a pair of needle nose vise grips . Or steal one of your sisters hair ties and put it on the handle of a pair of pliers for a 3rd hand

I'm pesonlly not a fan of Deans connectors for this exact reason, but I have found a goo trick to help out my fellow racers since I use the Trinity R minus connectors. First and most important be sure to have a very hot soldering iron perferably a 60 watt or higher with a chisel tip around a 1/4 of an inch wide. Next take the surface that you need to solder on and schuff it with a sheet of 120 grit sand paper twice diagonaly in both directions to give a cross hatched pattern. Now put a small amount of 60/40 rosin core solder ( not Dean's even though some like it, in my opinion there is to much flux) from radio shack. Apply a libral amount of solder on the wire and strip off about 1/4 of an inch. Solder the two and you should be set. To avoid all this stress use Trinity's R Minus connectors, they the least resitance and will give you better run times and more power. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXTJ26&P=7

I always solder deans connected together. The female connector prevents the male from moving during soldering.

I used to find that soldering deans plugs were hard, and it took me a while just to do one plug, but I finally figured out how to make them solder quicker.
Tips
1. Solder connectors with opposite connector connected.
2. Place soldering iron on pin for 1 second and dab solder on.
3. Apply solder to the wire.
4. Place soldering iron on wire for a couple seconds, or untill the wire is hot.
5. Quickly place wire on tab, and hold untill the solder on the tab and wire have conjoined.
