That looks like Cliff Lett's insane speed run car that he ran at the Thunderdrome about 5 years ago. It was powered by an Aveox brushless motor and ESC, and I think it was 24 cells or so. I have an older (also about 5 years old) Aveox brushless motor/ESC that I used to run in my RC-10 team car from from time to time. I used 8 1400SCRs to power it, and hang on tight! That sucker is fast, even today. I made a 16 cell pack once, and I quickly found out why capped tires are needed at higher speeds =)

Brushless motors = good. They have been for years. They just haven't got the exposure needed to become really popular; plus they're out of reach most people moneywise. Brushless motors with the novak name=very good. With the Novak name behind it, more people will be willing to try them, and hopefully they will be adopted, especially if novak can get the motor and ESC out for $250 or under. Permanent magnet brushed DC motors are pretty much a thing of the past in almost every other application; brushless motors are the way to go.

Edit: That is Cliff's car, but I was off on the year. That's his current record holding car, which looks awfully similar to the insane speed run car I remember from years ago...

its ,Cliff Lett, Curtis Husting, Torrance DeGuzman and Duane Silva's car.
They all worked on it for the speed record,
They also have a tc3 that went 87mph, you can see more about it on www.associated.com. (http://www.associated.com.)

Steve, you'll be able to find it sooner than I will (my back issues are all back home boxed up). What was Cliff's previous record at the Thunderdrome? I could have sworn it was 100+, but I might be wrong. It's been years since I read that article...

And when are you gonna tweak your SNRS4 to beat 111? =)

My bad - I forgot to give "props" to the crew. In speaking with Cliff and Mike Ogle of Team Associated, it's my understanding that the TC3 went as fast as 96 mph at some point during the day, and the modified L3O went 111.

Gokou - If my memory serves me, that car ran about 94 mph at the Veledrome. I already talked with Cliff to offer my congratulations, but I'm not ready to give the concession speech just yet. It's only the beginning of a friendly rivalry. Let the junkyard wars begin! Cliff is goin' down 'CUASE STONE COLD SAID SO! http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Man i wish i could be there all in the mix when these cars are being ran! That would be awsome.

Cliff Lett must be the best driver ever, he is retired i believe, but i think i would like to see him and Masami go head to head, those are the 2 best drivers ever IMHO

hey steve, he used many more batterys in his electric than is normally used. you used only one engine in your car. that's normal. put 2 in. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif that would be sweet. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif
