was out cleaning my Jeep bumpers (old ones to give away) and saw my Maxx looking lonely on the table in the garage.. so I thought i'd bash it around the street in front of my house for a bit.. started right up (something this engine doesn't usually do).. and i was off.. cut some cookies.. ran over the bumpers a whole lot :) :P and ran it over this little gravel strip by the sidewalk (it has tons of little rocks and some grapefruit size ones thrown around.. lotta fun to drive thru).. and was doing my usually speed run thru the gravel and over the big rocks when all of a sudden it takes off down the street.. brakes don't work.. can't steer.. radio light is still on.. crap.. i start chasin it but its goin about 20 to 25 (it'd just hit 2nd gear when it took off).. i chased it for about half a block which is the end of my block.. its a T intersection and it veered off right towards the curb.. but it just walks up the curb with two wheels on the curb two on the street.. stays like that for about 1/2 a block where it hits another T.. it turns with the curb and goes about 30 feet where it flipped over.. and died by the time i got there.. lucky for me there was no traffic on the street yet (its residential btw).. and didn't hit any people, houses, parked cars, fences.. etc.. i really lucked out.. so i grab my Maxx.. scold it.. and take it back to the garage.. i start looking it over.. radio works fine.. brake works fine.. i was like whattheheck.. then i pull off my lil blue antenna covering.. my antenna got clipped off to about 2 inches exposed.. that was my problem.. i didn't take the time to pre-inspect before running.. something i've been prone to do lately.. and i lucked out.. i coulda had to totally rebuild my whole maxx if it woulda jumped that curb into the fence behind it.. (goin about 25.. it would be a mess).. now time to order a new antenna and be thankful that thats all i have to buy..

Lucky! But you might want to edit out your clever circumvention of the swear filter... Some people on this board won't take to it as kindly as I do ;)
Ah wait, you just did, before I replied! Huzzah to you!
:)
And yes, always check your vehicle before going driving! If you've seen one R/C squashed by a real car, that's enough.

I swear these things have minds of their own. And those little plastic guys are nothing but trouble. They will steal your R/C vehicle and take it were no R/C should ever go. :D
Ok, enough goofy talk for me. I wouldn't want someone to think I have a sence of humor or something.
You were one lucky guy, or maybe T-Maxx was the real lucky one this time.

24 gauge stranded wire, 24 inches long. solder it to the board, and you're back in business.
Your LHS should have it. Futaba AM RX wire should be fine.
By the way, pick up a throttle return spring kit, best 3 bucks you'll ever spend!

Don't you need a stronger servo when you use a throttle return spring? Just thought I'd ask.

I used the spring on the stock servo and never had problems. Right now I'm using it on a 40-some odd oz. JR servo and it's working fine. I'm also using both springs.
Ideally, you wouldn't put the spring on the servo arm, the way I did, but in the arm of the carb. I had to install it on the actual servo arm to make both carbs return to idle in the event of signal loss.
A more powerful servo wouldn't hurt, but you can get by with stock equipment. I'd much rather spend the 3 bucks on the return spring and save up for a nice servo. It's insurance. Also, it's easier to save for that servo if you're not buying parts due to a runaway crash! :D

Project Twin,
I just thought I'd ask. I thought that I read in RCCA that a stout servo is needed when using a return spring. You don't happen to know what the oz/in is for the stock servos. The steering servo seems to be real underpowered, like the engine. :D Can you tell I'm getting a little fed up with the pro .15? Oh well, it is my first nitro so I probably shouldn't put the entire blame on the engine.

I'll get better servos for the Twin, for example, that steering servo is like 96oz @6 volts. The throttle could stand to be better, but I'm surviving with it.
I'm not saying you don't need a stronger servo, just saying that in the meantime 3 dollars is cheap insurance.
