I bought one of the metal geared servos (supposedly super heavy duty) to try because of the price. The power was good, but after two days of racing, the case cracked - and this is supposed to be thier top of the line. Save your money.

How does the case crack? Did you get hit or it just broke out of no where?

Nah, I was running some of my cleanest races. It was even mounted according to blue bird's directions, using all the spacers, and rubber grommets. The mounting flanges broke off of both sides of the servo, and a large chunk of the top of the case left with one of the mounting flanges.

Note that I also use a servo saver.

That sounds like a cheap servo. Did it have good power, or was it disappointing in that area too?

No, actually, the power was as good or better than something on line with a higher end futaba that cost twice as much. And the gears are still in good shape. But the case was defidently crap.

Hmm I don't know this brand of servo very well, but if you look around that site most of the stuff is for airplanes. Which aren't intended for repeated hammering and high impact. Maybe the bluebirds are not designed for ground use.

Rocknbil - and hence most likely my experience with the cases on these servos.

Not when the cases look like mine did pal - if you can zip tie that, you're some kind of super hero, cause I'm not just talking about a broken tab.
