View Full Version : Question about Competetiveness

To those of you that race your E-Maxxes on tracks. My friends have all of a sudden decided to buy RC10T3's, and they are using moderate modified motors($40 and under, like speedgems) I have yet to see an E-Maxx on the track, but can they hang at all with these trucks? My truck will be stock, except for big bores, skids, alum towers, the usual durability hopups. Oh ya, I will have a Brushless motor too(ok, not so STOCK) Some more info:
None of us are great drivers, nor do we race in any races at the tracks(we just race for fun, among ourselves). I am prolly the best driver(for now). The track has one strait, and two small doubles that a stock motor can easily clear. And some tight turns. VERY hard packed dirt, poor traction, even with bowtie tires on the stadium trucks.
**Should I pretty much expect Meat Grinders, a MUST have??**
Thanks, and any advice will be appreciated. I would hate to have my but kicked every time, while running such a great truck. I am not looking for a way to woop thier arses, just wanna know if I have a sporting chance to be competetive.

At my track we have some people who bring their Maxxes down and they really aren't that competetive in practice (we don't currently have an E-Maxx class). One thing I will mention, the E-maxx weighs in at like 9 or 10 lbs, and your friends T3's will very likely break if you hit them. They're made to withstand crashes with other T3's not with Monster trucks 4 times their weight... :D Have fun.

Exactly what I'm talking about. This is why most tracks won't let an E-Maxx race with the 1/10th cars or trucks. I'm not saying you shouldn't be allowed to race or practice, I have an E-Maxx and I use it quite frequently, I am saying that you need to be carefull. Breaking someone's car or truck once might not be too big of a deal, but do it 2 or 3 times and people start getting upset. Remember they spent a lot of money on their vehicle too, just like you did, and they don't want to spend more to repair what shouldn't have been broken to begin with. ;)

I think having RC vehicles that are not 1/10 scale on a 1/10 track is just downright annoying.
When I go play, I play pretty hard. I am not Mr. Serious, or whatever, but I am there to get a bunch of runs in.
If I wanted to have obstacles, I would put cones on the track ! :p
Seriously, the Maxx's are double extra industrial strength cool. I am definately getting one soon. They just don't belong on the track during open practice. It just isn't polite in my opinion.
I have driven a few. They CAN be tuned to run well on a 1/10 scale track (8 foot lanes, tight turns, etc), but then they have lost the characteristics that make them so cool. I want one for bashing around, jumping insane jumps, showboating, whatever. I don't want to try and negotiate a boring (to a Maxx) 1/10 scale dirt track with one ...
OK, I got it out of my system. Thanks for this thread. Hehe, I needed to release a little steam on this topic :)

I dont know about your guys clubs, but here ours isnt that big so we try to fit everyone in...... so EVERYONE can have FUN which is what the sport is about.. I run a 1/10 Tamiya mini a 1/10th Hongnor OB4 and a 1/8th Tamiya TGX gas.... all on the same track. We just try our best to make everyone fit in.
Remember if you're having fun......... you're doing it right :D

Kiwi, I totally understand what you're saying and don't get me wrong, I don't think anyone should be excluded. But at the same time I don't think people should need to worry about breaking their cars because someone with a gigantic truck wants to mess around on the track. I think Maxx racing is great and I love to watch and would love to participate in it, but I don't think it's right to go out and run over the people with the 10th scale vehicles. And that's exactly what happens, people go to take the line and they don't care if my buggy is already there because they can just drive over it. Then they wonder why I get torqued when my shock tower breaks!

Some of you are missing the point. I will NOT be racing with strangers that come out for fun. I will most certainly not race my maxx if others are there to have fun, but about 95% of the time, there is NO ONE there. I wish to race just 2 to 3 rc10T3's. With 4 peeps on the track, I doubt we will run into eachother alot. We let up when one is wrecked, we don't time laps or anything, its just for fun. And I doubt very much that I would have to run into them to beat them in the strait. That is not where I am concerned. I am concerned with the turns. Powering out of the corners.
