I posted this on another forum but I haven't had any responses so here goes.

Okay, I know this is a strange request.

I need to buy a new flex cable collet for one of my K&B engines and the little HPI 15 engine I recently bought from ebay. Do you have a picture of your Octura Flex Hex or your Marine Specialties Super Flywheel Nut Assembly (that's what they call it!)

I have an AM collet on my Zenoah engine. It has the replaceable insert. I really don't like that. I've got several different collets on my engines that either I bought in the past or that came with the engines when I bought them off of ebay. Unfortunately, none are identified by brand. I know which ones I prefer so I'm trying to buy another one. Please don't flame me for being **** on this . Thanks.

I use nothing but Octura flex cable collets. I've had problems with the Aeromarine ones with wobble plus I don't like they way that they make theirs. You'll find out that Aeromarine doesn't, unless since they are coming out with the Mean Machine 18 that they don't have a 5mm threaded collet for your HPI.
Remy himself asked me where I got the collet for my boat and I hated to tell him that it was a competitors.
No, I won't flame you on this.

Ron, I think that the collet that I like the best is also an Octura. Like you, I really don't like the AM collets. I don't like them because of the replaceable insert. I just had to buy a new insert for my Zenoah's collet and it works good now but it gave me fits with the old worn out insert.

Hey Ron does that Octura Collet fit a Zenoah engine? If so do you have the part number for it?

i use octura collets on my boats as well. but as far as the comment about replaceable inserts. I think you guys are looking at it all wrong. What happens when the insert wears out, you buy a new insert, what happens when the octura collet wears out you have to buy a new complete collet. i think the aeromarine collets would be cheaper to keep up in the long run than octura. A dremel collet is made the same as the aeromarine collets i havent had any problems with slippage on my dremel and its spins way more rpm and sometimes has a larger load on it than the boat motors do. Personal preference i guess would be the best way to choose which collet to use. I use octuras because they were the first ones i saw when i was looking for a collet. didnt know about aeromarine until i started into Gasoline boats. I have had only one collet give up and spit my brand new flex cable, stub shaft, and sharp and shiny prop right out the back of the boat.

The Octura collets don't slip, and there for don't wear out ;)
