It's generally like that with any product most of the time. It's the suggested retail price from the manufacturer, which means no one would ever sell it at that price. :)

Unless you're Military...then you buy it at 400% over list :p

I know you are not talking about my $400 hammer are you? :D Just think this Country is protected by the manufacture who is the lowest bidder. Except the people in our Countries Military though.

It's just a figure manufacturers, distributors and hobby shops use in thier business dealings. Sometimes you pay less, sometimes you pay it all. It depends on what you're buying.

I think manufacturer's do it to confuse people so that no matter what we pay it will seem like a reasonable price. Kitchen cabinet
companies sell to builders at about a 60% discount (from suggested price), & 40 to 50%
discount to annnyone that walks in off the street. 40% discount sounds pretty good doesn't it? It all depends on the product & how it's distributed though. Automobiles are rarely discounted more than a few percent, but can egual thousands of dollars. Its all a head game.

It just that some of my friends were looking at the box of my Factory Team T3 and saw that its list price is $379.00. They thought I was crazy spending that much until I told them that there is a difference between list price and street price. Didnt know why though.

The price differences you find in different hobby shops is pretty wild too. I've seen FT T3's for $269 in one place and $225 in the place I usually go. The place I've been going to lately sells them for $205,... and my freind just bought one on Sunday. I bought a XXX-T from the same place and I only paid $169

The only thing you need to know about list prices is to never pay that much :D
