Find yourself a nearby pond or swimming area, they're not busy this time of year.
Are you looking for a Club to hook up with? There are several on your side of the State, I know, I have to drive that way to race.
This site can help you with locating one: http://pub107.ezboard.com/bimpbadistrict2board
I was a member of the Ford Model Boat Club and may rejoin next year. A great group of people and they do have a private practice pond that I think is near Greenfield Village.

Did you find a good place to run? I live in Warren and was wondering the same thing.

I ended up going out to stony creek not to busy this time of year. And there is a medium size pond in nutical mile area. if you dont mind going in circles. checking on the pond that used to be in the gm tech center.

The Transom Twisters used to use the GM Tech Center pond. Pix of the last race there is available at www.thencph.ws as a screen saver. They got booted off the site over a year ago because it conflicted with a big Corvette meet on the same day.
