View Full Version : Funny thing happened at the track............
It was one of those things that wasn't funny, but it was, if you know what I mean.
I'm at my local track last weekend and in the middle of a modified nitro heat, this guy decides to take a stroll across the track. He tries to cross in the middle of the long straight, seemingly oblivious to what's going on around him. On his second step onto the track, a v-one-r at WOT nails him on the instep of his left foot taking his legs out from under him. He lands on his right side and the next car in line smacks him square in the center of his back. I couldn't help it but I was LMAO. Luckily the only serious injury was to the v-one-r, although I'm sure the guy was pretty sore the next day.
Bottom line is: Be Careful Out There!

Lol...we had something "funny" happen at the track sunday...a whole branch fell off of a tree, right before the buggy race, where people usually stand. It was kinda funny though. Btw what does WOT mean? Sorry that i cant figure it out, guess i smoked myself retarded.... http://www.mpz.co.uk/cwm/contrib/dvv/cwmstone2.gif
[Edit: Oh now i get it man! yeah man...wide open throttle...yeah man!...**** i'm slow man.....]

WOT = Wide Open Throttle. Anyways, I was at a race last weekend, and during one of the heats with the 1/10th scale gas trucks, a cat came running onto the track and didn't know which way to go with all the noise going on around him. He got clipped by a GT and ran like I've never seen a cat run before. It was hilarious.
Hey Chief,
Now that's funny! ROTFLMAO ("rolling on the floor laughing my ... off" for those who need enlightenment)

At our track, kids under 16 are not allowed to marshall or stand near the track anymore. One poor kid got nailed in the nuts by a 1/10 gas that jumped the boards. He was wailing pretty bad. He was also "launched" about 4 feet backwards...I don't like marshalling gas!

That's pretty funny about the kid getting hit in the cojones. I'll bet the kid didn't think so though. At the track I just started racing at, we race T-Maxx. There's usually enough people there for two or three heats so I always wind up marshaling one of them. I'd rather get hit with a 1/10th stadium truck than a 12 pound T-Maxx flying off a jump at 30mph. T-Maxxes are hard enough to drive. It's kind of nerve racking sometimes watching those things come screaming at you at full throttle sliding all over the place. One time a few years ago, I was at my RC airplane field getting ready for a flight. I was flying a .40 size aerobatic plane. I have a hold down for the tail that looks like a big fork and you stick it in the ground and it holds the back of the plane while you run the engine up and adjust the high speed. So anyways, I get my plane set up, fire it up, and squat down in front of it to adjust the high speed needle. I flipped the throttle to full throttle and much to my surprise, it made a lunge for the frank and beans. I'd forgot to put the tail in the hold down! DOH!! So, I made a really stupid looking attempt at jumping out of the way, but instead came down hard smack on top of the plane. Thankfully, not on top of the prop running at full power. I was still clutching my transmitter as I fell flat on my face and bloodied my nose and busted my lip. So, my plane was pretty smashed and my face felt pretty smashed. This happened at a club fun fly on a beautiful day so there were about 200 people there all looking at me like I was the biggest moron they'd ever seen. Matt

Oh yeah, there's a 1/8th scale class...that's scary as well! Those trucks are just crazy fast :) We have a couple of Tmaxx's too. They don't seem to do as well, they're just so high off the ground. It's probably driver error, but they all roll over on the turns :)

I hate marshalling for the 1/8th scale buggies. I'm afraid I'll accidentally turn off their engine or put my fingers in the wrong spot and burn myself. Plus, I cringe whenever I am placed near a jump and they come flying over.

Heh. I was marshalling last night for some electric buggies with the ugly modified bodies. Anyways, with about a minute left in the race, one of em flipped over right in front of me. I grabbed it and when I flipped it over, the body pin on the front was gone and since it was the only one on the front, there was nothing holding it down. But he took off before I could do anything and the body was flying up and the buggy was popping a wheelie whenever it went too fast. Pretty funny. Matt

Do 1/8th scale buggies race at your track? You wanna talk about getting hurt. They scream around our track faster than the stadium trucks, and they weigh about twice as much! Don't step in front of that thing.

Well that would stink (why must they edit the word s*ck?) I'm just 13.
Anyways, once i was marshalling at my track on the dirt oval, and a car came into the infield. When i went to pick it up another two came into the infield and one hit me in my right foot, tripping me,and i feel on my arse. After i got out of my entanglement,i was able to get the cars back on the track. :D

R/C Plane and Transmitter - $1000
Fork shaped device to hold plane - $10
Listening to Matt's story about runaway prop seeking his twig and berries -priceless!

doesn't relate directly to RC, but I was a flagger at the motorcross track I race at becuase my bike needed another radiator from a previous fall.
Well I am at the end of this long turn, and once the races gets started the faster riders take this turn WOT in 3rd gear, about 45 mph. Well this one guy comes flying through the turn and jumps out of his burn/line and the bike flips throwing him off and the bike is coming right for me on its side. Luckly I jumped in the air right over it and it only clipped my right ankle fracturing it.
300 pound motor cycle at 45mph = pain.

Getting hit in the gonads by one truck? Thats nothing! Last year whenever this kid named Mikey would get frustrated and start swearing we'd take him and tie him to a fence and let trucks jump a ramp into his cojones until he promised to behave (actually we do it 4 or 5 more times just for our amusement). Apparently he learned his lesson because this year he wins every race he's in.

Myst, You've GOT to be kidding!! That's just cruel :) We have a guy that's hot tempered too.."WHO OWNS THE RED TRUCK!!! YOU !@#@!, YOU CUT ME OFF!!" But we leave him alone :)

My brother was driving and there was this guy sitting on the edge of the track. On this particular corner the best line is right next to the boards. So my brother, being a racing genius, decides the best line is outside. Then he hits this guy. So later when we were packing up to leave thius guy comes over and tells my brother he doesnt have to come through the corner full throttle, and in fact he shouldnt, because he wasnt using traction compound. And the guy was really calm too it was really funny.

I was kidding, although, looking back we should have done it. Although, whenever I knew I wasn't going to come in in the top 3, I would just spend the rest of the time aiming as his car. He really does win just about every race this year! Last year he couldn't finish a race!
