Had my first "illegal" street race

Well today one of my friends drove over with his 82 camaro Z28 with a 350 in it. I got out my mini cooper and we raced for like 20 yards. I was keeping up with him and woulda maby beat him off the line if he didn't get a second headstart. Too bad I didn't think to get a pic. I wanna cal him up and ask for a re-match so I can get pics.

Believe it or not, this baby is pretty fast too. Not that it is supposed to be fast or even intended to be fast, but it is a nice benefit :p

Uhhh jeep....nice ride but i think your times are a little off!0-60 in 6.8 with exhaust mods????Maybe with a supercharger! :) Not knockin' your ride but i've done the same mods as you to some of my cars and i may have gained 2-3tenths but thats it!!It takes some horses to get those tires turning....i love your ride but i'd check the numbers again!! ;) :) :)

When I'm bashing on my 4-TEC and a car goes by, I chase after it. Boxholm is a small town and the speed limit is 25 mph, but the fact that there are alot of old timers driven around at around 15 mph helps. :)

kartrun, these numbers were reported by a G-tech pro. You can check it out HERE (http://www.gtechpro.com/prod.html)
I ran quite a few passes back and forth on the same strip. The G-tech pro is a very accurate device.
Also, the Grand Cherokees are very fast vehicles. They can be equiped with a 4.7 liter V8, with 235 HP and 295 ft/lbs of torque. I have the 4.7 in my Jeep.
The factory reported 0-60 time is 7.5 seconds.
Others with similar mods are reporting similar times at the track and have the slips to show it.
BTW, the 98 Grand Cheokee 5.9 liter does 0-60 in 6.2 and the 1/4 mile in low 15's at over 90MPH.
Please note I also mentioned the K&N FIPK mod, not just exhaust.
With all due respect, I think you may be the one needing to do some checking.

EDIT: There are a few people who have put superchargers on there WJ's ('99 and newer Grand Cherokees). Per the artticle found HERE (http://www.jeepsunlimited.com/zj/kennebell/index.htm), " ... Jeep posted a 0 to 60 time of 5.6 seconds and a quarter mile time of 14.2 seconds at 97.4 mph"

jeep first off it boggles my mind that your trying to race a JEEP!!!!! it might have a v8 but ther aero dynamics and its built purpose is not racing second my friend has a 95 Gran cherokee its a 8 we always screw around at lights i have a 86 chevy celeprit and only mod i have is open exhaust due to the rusted muffler hehe its a 4 banger and its got a 3 speed it only has 24,000 miles but its still a p.o.s. any ways off ligts i kill him he gets me in the top end but where so close its hard for me to think that my car or his car are any where near low 14's high 15's maybe. maybe you just have your G tech set on 1/8 mile :D just move ur switch to the one that says 1/4 ;) just my .02

About the jeep guys...We have a 5.9L v-8 in ours. 245hp and 345ft/lbs. it's darn fast off the line. I can (and always do) beat mustangs through the intersection

NitroJunky, I don't actually race it. I was very suprised how fast it was though, and decided to do a few mods (pretty easy and cheap ones).
If you are beating a 95 ZJ with the 5.2 V8, it is possible something is amiss with the ZJ. They are just a tad slower (factory specs) than the 4.7 equipped WJ's. But, it is cool that you are beating him :p
Well, I have to admit that my WJ will not do those times any more :( The bigger tires, lift kit, roof rack with spare up top all conspired against me ! Plus, the dealer just recently did something to the code in my ECU and now it is even slower : :( It is some wierd mandatory update regarding emissions ...
Nos, dang I LOVE those 5.9 ZJ's. Those things FLY. BTW, there is a performance computer for that thing that will freak you out. It makes your Jeep way faster and more responsive. Shift points are modified, timing is advanced, the top speed limiter is removed, and a few other tweaks. The only downfall is that you are then required to use premium gas. It is factory authorized Mopar part. It will not effect any warranty at all. They go for under 300 bucks. Definately worth the money if you like performance oriented mods (and like to race at lights ;) ). Also K&N makes an FIPK for your ZJ as well.

BTW- Jeep you learn something everyday, but sometimes it's the wrong things! A mini cooper couldn't keep up with a Z-28 if... well it just couldn't ;)

Its currently the worlds fastest 2nd gen camaro with stock suspension. I use it as a test bed for all the products were working on. i would say about 50-150 hp and 120-400 pounds of 50 to 120 if its a stock strait four but that might no even turn the wheels is it v8 or v6 or four banger but the nubers should be right except in the hp if its a big block 454 or 427 which would have a very time fiting in but hustler seems like the kind of guy that would cut a part a jeep so he could climb any thing :D

Yeah it goes about 96mph in 6th gear on a strait!Its really not geared for speed at all!It has 425 hp!I have rolled it many times!I was goin 60 on a gravel road, I turned really sharp and rolled it, and i also roll it all the time when im off roading!I bet i can beat lots of u with my buds V-12 Dodge Viper!Were talkin 230mph at least!He is probly going to get NOS on it soon!

uh vipers come factory stock with an 8 liter v10. unless you figured out some wacko way to fit a v12 in that beast... i know that's possible though because my friend and i got a 5 liter small block v8 to fit in his mustang lx, which has a stock 4.6 liter v6.

My freind got the whole front end and chassis re done on his viper so he could get a v-12 in it!He got a costom built v-12 and had some professional mechanics install it for him!The whole project including the price of the car cost $480,000!Pertty spendy! :D Almost as spendy as my Jeep! :D

I completley agree with yall!He could have bought a RUF{a super MODDED Porsche for all who havnt heard of a RUF**!Or a Ferari,or somthin like that for that much money, but he is a HUGE DODGE SUPPORTER because his father owns a car dealership that sells ONLY DODGE!He also has a Durango, and a Ram!Both of his trucks have engine modifications and 5 in lift kits! :D
