Here is one for you. Does anyone have the inside info on what happened at Trinity? Joel Johnson left, David Spashett left, Josh left and the list goes on. They no longer are associated with Andy's bodies and really dont have any big names driving thier vehilces....Would love to know (not rumors or I heard) but actual fact on what happened. Ernie and Joel were VERY tight. Suprised to hear he left.......any insight would be appreciated.

Or trinity is so popular whats the ponit of advertising drivers? Look at traxxas they only have one sponsored driver thats whats his name forgot. Anywyas traxxas is probably more popular than trinity so they dont need drivers to drive their cars. Heck I find it odd all my friends know traxxas and they are arent into RC, but you mention another big player they say, "Whos that"

When Jim Dietre left, the guy that made trinity motors actually work for the team guys, all the team guys left too. A few followed him to customworks, and the rest got picked up by companies that can give them what it takes to win. With jim gone they are really left out to dry, one of the reasons why the new motor is the SOS.

Cavaleiri also left, he's running wasp engines in his xxxnt and sidewinder fuel. they did just recently get jukka, amezcua and babcock. but yeah, several drivers have left. and this year at the chicago hobby show, theyre booth was so small that you could have easilly missed it.

Without saying too much to upset people, and I know people know alot more than i do about the details, but basically Josh and Ernie had some business differences (possibly josh wanted to market CEFX under trinity and ernie didnt offer him enough, i dunno, just guessing). Josh left and brought Spashett with him. Dieter left most likely for multiple reasons, one of which he might not have been happy with how ernie was treating him, who knows, but he is currently working for custom works and right now they are doing motors under the TrueSpeed name for which Paul Lemuix runs. Right now they are just rebadging but expect in the next year or so for them to be coming out with their own stuff (paul currenty or at least over the summer was planning on working for customworks). As far as other people...
Everyone who goes back and forth from Orion to Trinity and such, Travis (not even worth talking about, depends if its an even or odd day what company he runs for), Ryan left because he didnt get paid for his worlds win and wasnt getting paid comperable to BK and MF. Trinity pays certain drivers VERY well, and others not so well, so thats why you see some people leaving...
Meanwhile, trinity still does have a decent onroad team, not what it used to but, it does still have Mike Dumas, Hodge, BK, and MF....

Yours was the best post yet. I have heard Ernie is not very well liked and difficult to work with/for, but as I have never even met the man I could not say firsthand. I just thought that it was odd his right hand man Joel J left and Dieter. Let me ask you, I just purchased the Reflex 12 onroad, do you think I will be able to get parts for it in the near future? and what do you know about the car if anything? thanks for you reply.....

storm, idk even know why they dont pay ryan as much if not more than bk and mf. these last 2 years, he has been on FIRE. won a worlds and gets top 3 in almost every class at every event. at the losi champs, he won every class but one, but i think he still tq'ed that class.

IMO Cavaleiri is the best electric driver right now, and he is becoming a very good gas driver, but he still is not as good as Tebo in nitro

ginsu- That car is a very good car (I actually run for a competing company that makes 12th scale cars). The car is very capable of getting results, although I would probably say between that front end having a t-bar its most likely one of the most fineky and hardest cars to keep good, since one hit can throw stuff off. But as long as you know what you are doing its fine.
losiguy-that WAS the issue, lol. He is argubly at the same level with those guys, but was not being paid the same as them. Although seeing him at multiple races and been around him, what a d-bag, lol.
jock-Once you go to a few big races you would quickly realize how much it would s_ck to be a pro rc racer. You travel around 30-40 weekends out of the year, stay in nasty hotels inwhich you share with sometimes more than one other guy. At races you sleep maybe all of 6 hours if you are really lucky a night for upwards of 5 days straight. Now, as for job security... THERE IS NONE! there is always going to be some new hot kid who is going to get fast and threaten your ride. And as far as being paid, except for like maybe 10 people that get paid to just race, they dont exactly make a killing, and I remember on Trinity Tech Talk a certain paid full factory driver who almost won the reedy race this year, lol, said he averaged out how much he got, it was like a 1/3 of min wage. And alot of it is incentive based, and when you have 40 full factory drivers (Btw, full factory means 100% off, travel and paid are VERY different) competing to make the show, winning it to pay the bills isnt very easy.

That is also some great insight, thanks. I know you want to remain anonymous, can you reccommend an easy to set up and maintain 12 scale? I also think it is funny when you read or hear that these young 14-19 year olds want to be sponsored and really believe they can make a living from just driving. All drivers that receive a steady paycheck, actually work for the company they drive for, Baker, Kinwald, Scott, Paul Winn all have full time jobs with thier respective companies. Other partial sponsored drivers usually get half off of full retail, so when it comes out in the end, they are paying what we could purchase the same items for at Tower hobbies or elsewhere......thanks for the great post.

ginsu- shoot me an email, stormperson@hotmail.com I can give you some helpful words of advice for 12th scale.
And just to make it very clear, being sponsored normally ends up costing more money. Since normally you will have to switch over to your sponsors products which for a friend of mine who when he got picked up from trinity ended up costing well over $1000. Also to keep your deal, you have to travel to races, club racing means absolutly nothing; and normally lets say you travel to half a dozen or so races, maybe if you are lucky 2 go the way you want them to, most big races are very dispointing, espically your first few.
Although I do have to say, as a hobby not related to school or work or whatever, rc can be a great time, it is probably the most miserable and stressful occupation in relation to how much you get paid. There is a reason you see BK and baker chain smoking at races, and its not because they have full deals from Marlboro ;)

I think he is just saying it is work.... I am fairly certain he enjoys what he does, but he just pointed out that it is what it is.....work, that happens to pay next to nothing and is not really that glamorous with the exception of a handful of the worlds best drivers......and stay on target, this thread is about Trinity......keep practicing kid, maybe you too will one day be sponsored if that is what you want.

i wouldnt want to be sponsored, cuz unless i was top level id be living in a trailor park. and if i had a family, would never see them.

I completely agree with you, definately save your money for college....because without it, that is where you will be. Thanks for your input..

There are certain things about being sponsored that are pretty cool, and some things that are not so, but it requires alot of work and money pretty much to get good.
My best advice if you do want to get a ride of any sort, practice at least a few times a week and go to as many big races as you can. I learned more at my first nats than i did in months of club racing.
And btw, top level drivers dont exactly drive a Rolls around town ;)

You'd be better off practicing becoming a rapper than a pro r/cer. Judging by the "music" they let any one do it without having any musical skills or be able to sing, you don't have to know how to speak English, and they get paid enough to gold plate their Roll's and their teeth. :D
