Well, I think I may have just found an easy way to repair a worn brass prop shaft tube on the Miss Bud. :) I found that by drilling both ends of the worn tube to a depth of about 1/8" with a 5/32" drill bit, a brass bellcrank eyelet for a R/C plane will press firmly into the ends of the tube and serve as replaceable bearing inserts. I thought about making a new shaft out of 1/8" music wire (which fits the worn tube perfectly in my case) but decided that I didn't like the fact that the shaft rides directly on the non-replaceable stuffing tube, and IMO, Pro Boat really screwed up on this dilemma! The wall thickness of the brass tube is pretty thin after oversizing the I.D. to 5/32", but the eyelet fits perfectly and only requires a very slight oversizing of the shaft hole for proper shaft clearance. The part # for the bellcrank kit that I used is "GreatPlanes" # GPMQ3920 "Nylon Bellcrank". The package comes with two bellcranks and two brass eyelets for a whopping total of $ 1.95.

Hmmmmm,I think you got something there. I would fill the tube with moly lube before capping it off.
