I can't remember - If my boat takes a long time to come up an the pipe, does it mean the pipe is too long or too short. Once it is up on the pipe it runs great.

Maybe I'm having a senior moment, but I think it means the pipe is too long.

Any thoughts?

Short, I think.

Lengthen for more torque and shorten for more RPM. If it taking to long to get on the pipe then you need to lengthen it a bit.

This is the longest I could get in the Hammer. I cut the header not the pipe.

isn't that a bit long for the n.hammer engine??

How much did you cut from your Mac's pipe Doc?

my pipe isn't a mac. i stole it off of a miss crudwiser. all i know is that the stock pipe is WAY too long. the mac and the bud pipe are a lot better. i shortened my header by about 1/2" if i remember. the boat isn't nearby at the moment or i'd go and measure the length for ya.

Does anyone make a better header that can be used on the Hammer? One that doesn't have such a long 90 bend?

One shaped like this. If they made one like this for the small blocks it would be nice. Nice smooth curve.

WELL THE PIPE IT SELF IS NOT WAY TO LONG. BECAUSE IF YOU CUT OFF THE HEADER AS YOU DO TO FIT THE MAC IN THERE. THE STOCK PIPE WOULD NOT REACH THE BACK END. THE DESIGN FOR THE STOCK PIPE IS POOR, BUT IT DOES WORK. IT IS ALSO A GOOD BIT MORE MUFFLED THEN THE MAC. I AM SURE THIS WAS IN THE THOUGHTS OF THE DESIGNERS FOR THE COMMERCIAL POINT OF VIEW.

THE MAC PIPE HAS A GOOD DEAL MORE PERFORMANCE, BUT IS ALSO ABOUT THREE TIMES LOUDER!!! :D I LIKE IT, BUT SOME MAY NOT BECAUSE OF WHERE THEY RUN.

I'LL SAY THIS, THE MAC BLEW OFF MY HEADER COUPLER IN TEN SECONDS. THE PULL TIES WENT FLYING OFF AND THE COUPLER BLEW OUT. I KNEW THAT I HAD THE SETTING RIGHT ON AFTER THAT. SO I PUT ON A SUPER DUTY COUPLER AND AWAY IT GOES. :D

You can prolly just use an RC Car header, and trim it down from 180 to 90 deg.

Here is the one I would use:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXTT79&P=7

Just open up the flange with a dremel/file (if you don't have a dremel)

And cut of the extra part on the end of the header.

I had a buddy cut off a little more at work. The outlet side of the pipe is flush with the outside of the transom. I haven't ran it yet.

HMMM, MY BE DIFFERENT  I CUT THE HEADER DOWN NOT THE PIPE. IT FITS LIKE A GLOVE WITH THE END NIPPLE STICKING ABOUT 2 INCHES OUT FROM THE TRANSOM.

I cut the pipe down 1/8th and cut the header down another 1/8th.

I DON'T KNOW YOUR MEASUREMENT TO BE ABLE TO COMPARE. YOUR SAID ANOTHER 1/8...........

I DID NOT TOUCH THE PIPE AT ALL. I MADE MY CUT ON THE HEADER ONLY.
THE PERFORMANCE SEEMS TO BE RIGHT ON! LOUD, RESPONSIVE, MONSTER TORQUE, & A BIT MORE TOP SPEED. DID I SAY LOUD?? :D

JUDGING BY MY LAST TEST & TUNE, IT WOULD GO FROM IDLE TO FULL THROTTLE IN ABOUT 1 SEC. THATS ALL I CAN ASK FOR. :)

SOME PICS..................

I HOPE THEY FIX IT SOON, REALLY STARTING TO GET ON MY NERVES.

I'M DONE VENTING. BACK TO BOATS........:D

BURNZ, I HAVE DONE QUITE A BIT OF THINGS BUT NOT RIDE PADS. IT RIDES ON THE PROP AS IT IS, SO NO NEED FOR PADS. PADS ARE FOR GIRLS  JK
