You Should go to your hobby shop and hold a Transmitter. If it feels good and you can pull the trigger fine I'd go on and buy the car. If you can't hold the transmitter very well just wait awhile until you get your cast off.

I once broke my left when I was 18. At 1'st you are very limited as to what you can do. But once the swelling goes down, & the bones start to knit, a little activity may actually be good for the healing process. You didn't say whether it's your throttle or steering arm. If it's your throttle hand it shouldn't be too much of a problem. If its your right arm, I would think that by four weeks you wouldn't have any problem steering a transmitter, maybe sooner. I know four weeks seems like an eternity now, but it'll go faster than you think. You really should talk to your doctor about this, he might just surprise you. Good luck. :)

Don't forget about building the kit. You'll need to make sure you can perform the required tasks to get the car built.

Hey guys, I have NO muscle control of my throttle finger, whatsoever. I can't bend or straighten my left index finger at all. This is because I'm quadriplegic (in a wheelchair for almost 4 years now).
Guess what? I got 2nd place in the stock truck A-main last night. The moral of the story: if you want to do something bad enough, you'll figure out a way. I bend my wrist to pull the trigger; it works because my finger is attached to my hand, which is attached to my wrist. My throttle control is nowhere near as good as it could be (like if my hand still worked), but it's good enough to kick some booty. I LOVE R/C and my disability is NOT going to get in my way! Take that, you damned spinal cord!

Way to be resourceful NairB!!! I broke my arm a few years ago and had no trouble steering. If you just can't do it the same as you did before, just use 2-3 fingers on one side of the wheel and move your whole arm a little to steer. It might not work that well for racing but for play anything is good enough.
