one of my other hobbies is slot cars. i got bored the other day found an old model VW i had that i was going to make a slot car out of but never did. so i gave it a light coat of primer and came up with what im calling "Der Evil Panzer".
i was trying to achieve a weathered look, as if someone had left the car out in the elements for several years. which i think i achieved with the exception of the flames, but those are decals so i had little control over it.
what i did was take some left over flat black and some silver, mix it up so i had a dull semi flaked black and shot it so the car had a slight orange peel to the paint. then took some dark red and mixed in some black to make it even darker creating a color im referring to as "dark blood red" cause when you get it on your hands it looks just like blood but when sprayed it turns darker. masked off the maltese crosses (one on each door and one "ghosted" on the roof) and shotm'. let that dry over night and put the flame decals on it (i don't even now where i got those).
the stinger exost system is actually the end of an old paint brush (the part that holds the bristles to the handle). the rear spoiler is hand made from lexan then painted silver. i glued the deck lid on so it looks like its got stand offs on it (propped out at the top), the bumper bars are made of lexan and one of the "parts trees" i cut up. then painted silver.
future plans include a driver and a roll cage. the driver is just a matter of buying a driver inerbody and gluing it in there. idk how im doing the roll cage yet its got to be plastic so... im accepting ideas for that. i also have to put the windows in, flush mount lexan sense it is a drag car.
so whacha all think?

i drag race. those don't crash hardly ever. well except AA gas but we don't run those anymore.
90 grams, 12 motors. short wheel base. full of anglia and willys bodied cars. about every other run and one was coming off the track at some point. so we started the crash pot. there's was a peace of foam at the very end of the track to keep the cars from smashing in to end of the track if it ever did get crazy on the top end. we would draw a target on a peace of paper and put it in front of the foam. if you put a quarter in the pot and your car came off went flying and ripped the paper target you win the money in the pot (sometimes it got to be a pretty good amount). them guys were getting new bodies almost monthly. that class was a spectators delight. we had to stop running it though, cars were getting to fast and starting to come off and go flying off the track sideways and into the pits. we stopped before someone got hurt. the owner didn't want to have to explain to his insurance co. why and how a guy got decapitated by a slot car lol.
that bug there will probably be ether a bracket car or maybe super gas. it'll probably never crash.
