View Full Version : Hmm, would an OS CV RX .18 be any good in a Nitro Hammer?

I dunno if they make a watercooled head or not(i doubt it), but how would it perform, and would it fit easily compared to the stock engine?

It's got the same size crankcase as the CV-RX .12 (Which i'll also have laying around once it gets back from OS, it sucked in the front bearing and destroyed the engine).

Has anyone fit this engine or similar into a Nitro Hammer?

i don't see why it wouldn't fit. most motors in the sub-.21 size have the same mount pattern (or so i'm told). the question however, is how long is the crankshaft and what are the threads? i've also heard that a lot of the smaller engines have the same crank thread...but i'm not totally sure about that. the most important thing is making sure the crank is long enough to put a flywheel and coupler on to. after that, everything is gravy.

You can get the right legnth and thread. The rotary carby and "standard" shaft will bolt up. I think it would be killer. The water cooling would be done :D

How interchangable are the marine heads? Same bolt pattern etc..

Can you use a .12 head on a .15 and a .15 head on a .18 and so on?

Will the aquacraft head work on the OS?

Will the CEN cooling head work on an OS.

There is also a version with a pilot shaft. What is this used for?

No, the heads are not compatible between sizes. The bolt pattern might be the same between manufactures, but the head volume and squish band might not be the same. If you don't know about C/R's then I would stay away from head swapping or you might have two piles of parts.

compression ratios?

Sorry, I don't know many short hands yet.

What is IMOH?

if you meant IMHO--that means "in my honest opinion"

Ya. I was refering to compression ratios.

What cr's do these little boogers run anyhow?

There was a cr guage for sale on ebay.

That was not a CR gauge that was compression gauge. I don't know what the Ratios are running on our machines but I know it is high.

Pretty much the same thing. I know that to get a comp. ratio you have to know the volume b.d.c. and it is divided by the volume t.d.c.

A comp. guage measures the pressure built up by the compression. It's measured in either psi or (kPa or Pa).

Make a water cooled head. Use some brass tubing wrapped around the head inbetween the fins. or use a few Octura Kool Clamps.

Should fit fine.

BTW- to help consumers, the companies agreed to use all the same engine mounting hole distances.

^^^^ on r/c car engines that is..
