Is it the angle?width?size? what is the difference between 64 and 48 pitch gears?

The higher the pitch # the smaller teeth are, and the smaller the pitch # the bigger the teeth. The more torque you have the more you should us a lower pitch. The more speed you have, you can go to a higher pitch.

It's simply the # of teeth you can put on a 1 inche diameter...

Its how big the teeth on your gear are. 64 pitch gears will be closer together then 48 (im pretty sure.)
