Has anyone tried or know where I can get plans for converting an Asociated TC3 to nitro. I have some ideas, but would like to know if anyone has tried it.

Trinity has a nitro conversion kit for the tc3 look in Towerhobbies they have it listed under tc3 I think, I saw it in there recently.

Why not just wait a few months for associated to release the Nitro TC3? =)

a few months??? heheh try few years just like the delay on the TC3.

With hing pins as thin as tooth picks i would not waste my time on a car that fragile with a nitro engine in it.

I own a TC3 and yes its great and yes its fast and all that hype. But its extremly fragile add 1+HP engine to it and hit the odd board and watch the thing shatter and bend all its hing pins. Also expect a world or headache if there is to ever be a 2 speed on it. The tamiya T10 has a 2 speed and it a pain to work on for cleaing and changing gears...

just my negative 2 cents worth..

Wanna race nitro these are teh cars to look at:
SERPENT
MUGEN
OFNA
KYSOSHO
YOKOMO

All based on pivot ball suspention and 3mm chassis. Built for racing

Yeah, I own a TC3 as well, but the pics of the nitro TC3 did not look fragile, anything but fragile. I agree the present TC3 is fragile and I am betting that the nitro will be a LOT tougher. As my parents used to say:
"We'll see..."

I hear that the suspension is getting re-worked. Hopefully to introduce pillow balls and a much beefier suspension for the NTC3.

Much of the car is going to be be intirely different than the electric TC3. Comments concerning the durability of this car, before anyone has even seen it or driven it, are pretty worthless.

I just bought the TC3 conversion from Trinity and I cant wait to get started. I have to disagree that the TC3 is fragile. It sounds as if somone needs to stay off the wall. I did bend a hinge pin and break the rear graphite arm on my TC3, but that was my fault. I didn't even know it was messed up until I was done racing. The car still tracked straight. Not bad for a "fragile car". I have had a TL01, OB4, Z-10, Yokomo MR4, HPI RS4 and a Street Weapon and the design of the TC3 and it's driving characteristics are better than all of those. I'll keep you updated on the process of my conversion.

The Trinity conversion has a few issues. First of all, you have to spend a good chunk of change on parts that aren't included in the upgrade like: fuel tank, engine etc. Also, if you look closely, you'll notice that almost everything sits on one side of the chassis. This is definitely going to affect handling and car setup. The stuff I've seen about AE's nitro TC-3 look sweet and it seems well thought out. I normally think of Trinity's stuff as top-notch, but this upgrade looks like a way to make a fast buck to me.

Associated has been testing this car out for a long time. I think they've done their homework and this is going to be an excellent car even if it doesn't have PB suspension. Its just sad some other companies don't test like this and they have to replace parts because they are too weak.

digex-thanks for the warning. I work at the LHS so my cost is significantly less than retail. That was part of my decision for the purchase. Is there a way to move things around or is it a "mandatory" set up for the nitro conversion to work right? I plan on using an OS CV12 in it as of now.

It's a conversion, so go nuts, man! Modify if you have too. You should be able to make the adjustments required, with a little imagination. Let me know how it goes.
