I got my Spec 19 from tower and threw it in and its normal in forward but reverse is slow now. Is this normal or what. With the motor that came with my RTR forward and reverse were the same. I dont get it.....

Well the thing is is that the 19 turn is tuned to go forward. Meaning that it makes more power and is better suited to run forward. Besides how fast do you really need to go in reverse? and if you are going to be racing you cant use reverse anyways.

Did you make sure to reset your speed control when you put the new motor in? I have noticed that going from motor to motor that if I don't reset my speed control with certain motors, they don't seem to perform to there full potential.

Its all about timing. Your new motor most likely has approx. 27deg. of advance. This will give you more rpms in fwd.

Its all about timing.
And bingo was his name-o! :D

The stock motor your vehicle came with was probably a mabuchi motor or a cheap open endbell motor that had 0 degrees timing, making it perform the same in both forward and reverse operation. Spec motors probably have about 20 degrees of timing I think, maybe less. Stock motors have 27 degrees timing.

24 degrees is the norm for 19Turn spec motors, as is stock motors that are tagged ROAR all must be 24 degrees there are some stockers labeled as super stock that had 34,36 as high as 44 degrees a long time ago. Even some of the fixed endbell machine wound motors are set at 24 degrees.

Problem could be from going into reverse by using a short delay, if motor was still turning when reverse was engaged you may have run a small short through the motor or chipped a brush. Remove springs and pull out brush as look for a chipped brush. No matter what manufacturers say use the kit type or mabuchi type motors for reverse and run the race tuned motors only in forward - reverse should be used sparingly.

I would try to program rev. out and not use it , not worth the wear and tear that it causes on the motor, RED
