I tried to take the set screw off the 18 tooth pinion gear on my stock Stinger motor on my Rustler. It is tightened from the factory.

I have "Bondhus" brand ball drivers. I used the short end in the set screw, and turned on the long end. It snapped! http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/eek.gif

I then used a mini torch, and heated the pinion. Still could not budge that little sucker.

I guess the next move is to drill it out. Sheesh! http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

Another option is to get a puller of some sort (bolink sells one) and forcibly remove the gear from the motor. These pullers won't harm the motor annd generally save the pinion as well. Once the pinion is removed from the motor, the screw comes out pretty easily. Then you'll have a pinion puller in you tool box for the next time you have a stubborn grub screw.

A micro gear puller. Sweet! Thanks for the tip Steve.
