My birthday is comming up, and i need a new radio. I found a 3 channel FM radio on towerhobbies, and i was wondering if anywone else had one. It is a Hitec RCD Ranger. It is a stick type radio instead of pistol grip, and thats aright w/me. And it says its for surface use, so im covered there too. I will use it in my nitro boat, and my tc, and buggy probably. Anyone have any comments on this radio?? http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p.pgm?Q=1&I=LXRT16**&P=7

Anyone have a good FM 2 or 3 channel radio for <120 ????

I looked at it again, and noticed this under the includes section----------------One HFS-03MC Receiver (single conversion, not BEC) ------------------ Does that mean i have to have a 4 cell battery box even with my elecs???

(I am thinking that not BEC means dosnet have batery elemiating circutry, and tht would mean it would need batteries onboard, correct????)

Yes it will need batteries to run the radio.

And it probably only has one stick for all channels. Channels one and two are on the stick and three is a switch.

I know it will need 8 batts for the radio, but im talking about batts for the reciver.

Nope, there is a picture and it is 2 sticks. Now my next question is should i get that 3 channel fm radio or a futuba 2 channel am radio?? the price isnt that different, and i don tknow ow often i would the 3rd channel.. Will people at the track give me a hard time because im not using a pistol grip radio??

btw-- here is the one with the picture http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p.pgm?Q=1&I=LXN487**&P=7 I would get the 75mhz one though.

Are you sure it is a surface frequency also? If not it is illegal to use it for boats and cars. Better make sure with Tower before you buy it because your track cannot let you use it for cars.

In the USA the morons would rag on you about not using a pistol grip but then you can remind them that the best driver in the world Masami Hirosaka uses stick radios. Stick radios are used more by European drivers and the pitol grip is more common in the USA.

I've seen Hitec Rangers and they are all one stick radios used mostly for sail planes and aileron-less aircraft requiring only three channels. Maybe this is a model I haven't seen before.

I'm at work so I can't see the picture on the website.

Ok, but this one in tower it is under the category of 2 stick 3 channel fm radio, the more expensive one is 75MHz (thats the one i will get) which is surface use only. and the less expensive one is for air and surface. What else will i need besides my 8 batts for the radio??? anything for the reciver??

thxs once again. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

i would get the futaba 2 chanle am. I personaly like airtronics and futaba radios not hitec. And i would not want to have to drag that batery box around on all of my veicles.
