i was starting to run my boat today for the first time ever and i was watching i didnt see any water flowing through my cooling lines how fast do u have to be going for it to start working. the boat didnt go real fast. so could that be why and how long does it usualy take for the water to start coming out i was having some difficulties with it running so i dont know.
Water should come out all the time. I would look and see if the line is pinched. Take it off the head and see if you can blow through it. Do this with both ends. Sometimes lines get pinched.

It really depends on where you pick up the water, how fast to boat goes, and how the lines are run.
If your running a slower model, position the pickup tube right behind the prop above the centerline of the shaft.
If your running a faster boat (20 MPH and up) you can place it almost anywhere as long as it will always be below the water line.
When running the lines, the fewer curves the better as the water needs as straight a shot as possible.
If you are not getting water now, remove the line from the pickup and blow a mouthful of water into the line, if you have to blow hardf to get it out the exit, look for a blockage in the lines or cooling head.

What kind of boat? Does it just use the speed of the boat to pick up water, or does it have a pump? If it uses a pump, it the pulse port (pressure) line in good condition? Does it leak? Are there any kinks or blockages in any of the lines (this applies whether you have a pump or not). Where is your pickup located?

its a scratch built shallow v hull the water pickup is in the rudder. im gonna try to figure it out this weekend hopefully now that i have hoped to work out some kinks.

Try taking one side of the line off and blowing through it. If you can't, then there is a blockage somewhere in the line. If you can, check for kinks and unnecessary tubing. If none of this helps, then I'm stumped.
