My 1450 mah nimh for the Tx seem to drain fast. I want to keep uisng them instead of buying a set of nicds. Would adding a ninth AA help (nimh) and would it matter if it was 1000 mah?

I just use reg. alkiline batteries in my transmitter because it has a batt. level meter.

No adding a ninth cell will only increase voltage and not runtime.
You should also only use cells on similar capacity because if the 1000 mah cells drains it will deep discharge and possibly explode trying to keep up with the 1450 mah cells.

if you connect extra cells in parralel and not series you greatly improve runtime.

Make sure you charge them all the way and discharge them before you charge them again.

NIMH cells SHOULD NOT be discharge like Nicads cells.
When the radio shows about 60% then recharge them. Deep discharging only kills NIMH cells.
And as for adding cells in parallel, where is he gonna fit 16 cells in a radio? Would look funny when he walks out with an extra pack taped to the Tx. LOL!
