If you could design a new class of R/C, what would it be and why?

Scale Prerunners, Just because i like scale trucks and real prerunners are sweet

I think an AMPHIBIAN class would Be awsome...
Buggy style RCs with a kind of Boat Hull Chassie so you Make Huge Pond style sections in the Muddy style RC Track..
You could Desighn Jumps that Go straight into water and the RCs could handle almost Like a Boat in the Water and a Buggy On the Land....
O'yea It has to have Monster truck wheels....
OK I'll Shut up now....lol....;).

It wouldn't exactly be a "new" class, but I would really like to see a racing 4WD stadium truck. When 2WD nitro stadium trucks like the RC10GT and the NXT were really becoming popular, nitro engines were making about 0.5 bhp, just a click more than a typical modified electric motor. Now the better engines are all over 1 bhp and some over 1.5 bhp, which is making these trucks VERY difficult to control; the class is becoming stagnant and the numbers of drivers at our local tracks are falling. So, I would like to see competition 4WD stadium trucks with no limit on engine displacement (only that a small-block is required). It would offer excellent performance and these trucks wouldn't be as hard on the track as the 1/8 buggies. That's what I would like to see.

Oh yeah, a shaft-drive 1/8 on-road car. I think it's time. Maybe an XRAY. ;)

I agree totally to Shafts in 1/8 onroads.... death to the Belts....lol..

A pancar sedan!!! It would have independent susp. and would be shaft drive.

Correct me if i'm wrong but wouldnt that basicly be any 1/10th sedan??

How about highend tank racing....basically trucks with tank treads that could hit jumps.

Also, I've seen some Rally racing on track I go to, and it's fast and fun. They cut off the bigger jumps and direction, but it seems to have lost interest. Something along the lines with J-spec would be cool with special tracks to similate the real thing.

How about RC mx dirtbikes, the road racers have come a long way, I think even Tyco had one that seemed it worked (although that may be TV trick).

I'm with Steve. The only real downside to 4wd anything is more maintenance. I loved my HPI Nitro MT, but it was not designed for racing, and was way to fragile. I watch guys beat on RC10GT's all over my track, and granted the big monsters will take a heck of a thrashing, but the GT's just look like pound for pound they are the toughest thing going. Yep. 4wd stadium trucks. Currently all I race is MT, but I'm looking at a buggy. Of course, I still have a small block engine laying around in hopes of finding the perfect deal (steal I mean) on a GT.

Id like a make-your-own-car class. The only items you are allowed to buy are hardware, tires, gears+diff, electronics, and shocks if needed. Itd be interesting to see what people come up with and would be very cheap.

eletric Demo class. You take a bunch of crappy old rc cars that are trashed or are to old to compete in any races and stuff, drop a crap load of volts on to them to make them a little bit fasted and smash the **** ot of them. I guess wouldn't be a realy a class though, would it.

I'd like to see a Super sized electric sedan class that combines the best of electric TC with the best of onroad racers. Bigger then 1/10th scale TC's but capable of running on the same tracks. Picture a super sized TC3 sedan (like HPI's Super RS4) but with twin battery packs like the emaxx with an ESC designed to maximize speed, the convienence of quick change wheels like 1/10th and 1/8th on road cars have. You could have super low bodies, twin motors and hopefully, more run time. The cars would be big enough to fit electronics more comfortably then 1/10th scale so they would be easy to work on.

Solid axle track racing. Stick them bowties on that clodbuster!

I highly agree with haunted also, large scale (HPI super RS4) electric racing! I ordered mine tonight! WOHOO!

If it was a racing class I'd have to create the "Run what you got, rubbins racing" class, where the object is to have fun.

If it was a new kind of R/C, i'd go with the 1/8 electric brushless TC.

I agree with Steve. I have no idea why 4wd Stadium Trucks aren't popular. We are the exact opposite of full size. They run 2wd buggy, truck and 4wd truck. We run 2wd buggy, 4wd buggy, and 2wd trucks.

I'd like to have a REAL off-road racing class where you race on a loamy track with lots of off-camber jumps. No more of this blue groove concrete racing with a few jumps.

Bingo! :D

I was thinking of like baja style courses, like go out in a desert, put in some jumps if needed and let the guys race (mind you, you'd need a tower so they could see the track but that wouldnt be too hard to put up). I'd like to see how well those bowtie's do on that surface :p

Just come to Poland (Europe) if you would see a track you would die laughing!!
And i think same shaft 1/8 on-roads, also like Baja trucks, so there would be very hard terrain ( but not specified track) and car that gets first throught lets say 10-20 gates wins, so driver would choose his own track, and if he chooses wrong he looses :D

I would like the Tamiya S!0 and F150 class. Not 4wd wide racing trucks, just scale trucks. Better yet, convert it to RWD and then add some mud.

How about the baseball diamond offroad track, just set it up like an on road track, but with dirt. Put a use to those rally cars.

AMEN!!!

No more of this blue groove crap. It's a dirty on-road track that's all :(

it's not really new,but i would like to see 1/8 stadium trucks come back. they were a total blast back in the day. no mt tires or bodies. just an un-narrowed 1/8 buggy platform with slightly larger tires and stadium bodies. ofna, kyosho, and mugen all had versions in the early 90's,and that class was a total hoot! ofna is on the right track with their new blazer, but it's too wide IMO.

I think a new class of rc should be a trailer race. where you put about an 18 inch trailer on the back and race em around a track :D

LOL^^^..we Have an anual Race here In Auss with 1/1's and they tow a Outhouse toilet on a trailer..around a speedway track..Ahh the thrills and spills..lol..Funny stuff..;).

Looking at some of the current 4wd buggies out there, I can do a conversion to a stadium style ( electric ) 4wd truck with the Academy SB as the traxxas truck rims for the stampede mount right up. I may look more into this over the winter and make something.

I'd like to see RC rally cars and 1:1 rally get popular in the US but I don't see it happeneing because the most popular 1:1 racing is borring Nascar. I like the amphiRC idea though. that would be interesting.

REVIVE!

Hot bodies just came out with a 1/8 nito stadium truck, brand new loosk awesome, so I say we get a class of those.

Oh and another thing, hovercrafts, my friend has one and there awesome, nitro or electric, then you race on an ice rink so if it went dead it would not sink into water, but you would still go fast on ice. if that makes sense.....

the coolest whole new class of rc would have to be 1/7th scale oval on-road helicopter racing!!! yes, i can see it now, 6 choppers cruising around the track skidding on the groung at speeds up to 146 inches per pi seconds

nah, just kidding, but seriously, my favorite color is clear and i have a pet rock named fluffy!

I've been thinking about this one, How about 1.10 Autotests? I'm not sure how popular this is in the states, but it's something that's very popular in ireland.

http://www.motorsportireland.com/html/autotests.html

I was thinking of doing something similar , but with 4WD or FWD cars. It relies more on a driver's ability to maneuver(sp!?) his or her car through a series of gates, rather than power/speed of a car. I reckon it would be great for those on a budget, or in a tight space, as no special equipment is necessary, and tracks can be much smaller than a racetrack.

You pretty much have 1/8 scale "stadium" trucks with current state of monster truck racing with the truggy's. Most of the competitive trucks out there are closer to being a stadium truck than a monster truck. I would also like to see them just make some rules and have a 1/8 stadium truck class.

I'd like to see a stadium truck spec class that ALL the manufactuers participated in. That'd make racing VERY fair for everyone, and would let your true skill shine. Or a BRUSHLESS spec class for ST.

Stupid Idea: Brushless electric tank racing! WOOT! :D

How about un-teathered rocket cars? See who can put the most explosives under a 1/10 shell without actually exploding and keep it on the track the longest.

09-30-2004, 11:16 PM
How about TCS off road??? Gravel hounds and Baja kings going at it w/ 19T or something. Stadium thunder gettin in on the action as well. If only Tamiya still had a cheap 2WD buggy with independant rear suspension this could be a hit..

losiXXXman
09-30-2004, 11:18 PM
1/10 nitro buggies would be cool too. 2wd and 4wd!!

brushless amphibious wheeled tanks! See, instead of of tracks they would have like 6wheels or somthing, and all independent suspencion yeah.

I gotta agree on the tank-truck class. Fully tracked vehicles, no reverse, and crazy obstacles.... Does anyone make a decent set of tracks? The rest could be solved with a dremel..

The other form of racing which is really weird is swamp buggy racing. Those things are weird. Also make a cool RC class.

A real drift class, PVC wheels required.

Rear wheel steering class.... Only rear wheel steering I mean.

I'd like to see an icelandic style hillclimb event in 1/8 scale or better. If you've never seen an icelandic hillclimb event check out this page and some of the videos http://www.x-truckracing.com/

I wouldn't mind entering a no-holds-barred marathon type of event with alot of different terrain, you know...it starts off in the dirt with some jumps, you eventually hit some pavement, then into some mud maybe, then throught some bumpy surfaces, that sort of thing. It would really test your tuning ability as well as the ability to predict how your truck would react to different surfaces.Enter what you have and may the craziest RC driver win!! :D

10-19-2004, 09:25 PM
how about 1/18th scale nitro's that would be awsome....like mini-t's and the rc18's and stuff ....put like .07 or .10 engines in......awsome

1/10 touring car hit to pass. Its just like it sounds, you have to tag the car in front before you pass them. It can be a slight tap, or send them into the wall. :D I have been wanting to do this for a long time :D
We have 1:1 hit to pass here. Most cars go to the scrap yard at the end of the weekend.

A coolest new class of R/c could be RC on screen...!!!

Just put an wirless cam on the car and hook your cam reciever on monitor (a room with monitors for the racers in the pits or anyware the track owners wand) and see the road from inside!!!
Thats Wild !!!!!! :D

That would be just like playing Gran Turismo, but with more vibrations.

What I would really like to see is 1/10 235mm on rubber tires instead of foams. It would lower costs significantly and therefore make it more accessable for those on a lower budget. Apply the same to 1/8 on road. Tamiya did it with their older formula one cars. It was weird for some but now it is the norm

Richard.

I'd like to see a vintage class!

2wd class- RC10 vs JR-x2 vs Ultima vs Fox vs Traxxas...etc.

4wd class- Optimas/Javelins, Optima Mids, Lazers (I'm sorta a Kyosho freak-sorry! :D ) vs Schumachers vs Dogfighters vs Avante/Egress...etc. It'd be too cool to see those buggies doing their thing again!!!

Demolition derby racing. More contact = better. But even with cheapo cars/trucks, the cost would add up pretty fast.
