Hi, I have a Team Losi Dirt Spec XXX Truck and I've noticed that one of the shocks is leaking. I haven't even completed construction of the car yet.
Question: My front right shock seems to be leaking. I've tried tightening it as much as possible and it still leaks. It doesn't help that the shocks are upside down, so that if it were to leak, gravitiy is on it's side.
Another Question: I can't get the silver-looking part you're supposed to screw on the end of the shock on all the way. I grip the shaft of the shock with the pliers and when I try to screw it on more, the shaft slips.
Any help on these?
Thanks

If the shocks are the same as on my Losi NXT. They are bottom filled with a shock cap. Either you over filled the shock and did not bleed it correctly or the "O" rings in the cap are bad. Also if you scared the shaft with the pliers it will tear the "O" rings in the shock cap. Get some fuel tubing and cut a slit in it log ways. Put it over your shock shaft. Then grab the shaft with the pliers to keep from scratching it. My shock shafts still have about two turns sticking out of the shock end.
Try rebuilding the shock. First fill the shock to just below its top. Screw the cap in a little over half way to three quarters with the piston against the cap. Then slowly push the shaft in till it is a little over three quarters of the way in. Tighten down the cap all the way and wipe up the mess. You should now have a little rebound when pushing in the shaft. The April 2001 Radio Control Car Action magazine has a article on shocks.

IF YOU TIGHTEN THE CAP TO MUCH IT WILL DAMAGE THE THREADS ON THE SHOCK JUST SNUG IT UP A LITTLE

I didn't scratch my shocks. I used one of thoes rubber things you use to open jars with. - I don't have any fuel tubing 'cause I'm running electric.
My shock doesn't leak where the o-rings are, I don't think. I think the plastic end cap that goes on the blue shock body has a small crack/irregularity in it that allows the oil to come out. Should I try sticking something there and if so, what?
Thanks for the other suggestions, and I'll look at my April 2001 issue when I get home.

Strip the shock down and re-build it first. You might have cross-threaded the cap which is why it might be leaking from the cap and not o-rings.
