I recently purchased the 1/12 scale Miss Bud. I know big mistake.

Anyway...........

I'm looking for a new boat that isn't so toy like. The lake I boat on is somwhat rough. Rollers mostly. I was thinking about the Aeromarine Donzi or maybe the Avenger Pro. These boats seem to be of a better quality and much more tuneable.

Anyone have experience with Aeromarine or these boats?

Would this be a good choice for a beginner? I have extensive land nitro experience but little boating experience. I'm very good at the work bench and enjoy fiddeling with things.

Could you give us more info on the "rollers? It would help on recommendations. Having said that, Aeromarine builds some high quality hulls, so you can't really go wrong with them. You might also look at the Enforcer line through Warehouse Hobbies. I myself don't have one, but many here do and will tell you how good they are. MHZ out of Germany also makes nice hulls, but they are spendy. Hope that's enough to get you started.

The Aeromarine boats are fine indeed. A few guys on the board own them and have good things to say. I've owned an AM Avenger Cat and it was pretty good quality also.

But if you're looking for something UNIQUE, check out my boat for sale... its not cheap.

I've also heard that the Aeromarine boats are good quality, and I am the owner of a WONDERFUL Warehouse Hobbies Enforcer (for detailed pics, stationary and running, go here (http://www.radiocontrolzone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=178515). Also, DD's Cali Drag, as well as the CF cat look very nice. I would get the drag, except I spent the remainder of this year's hobby money on that Enforcer (in other words: I'm poor).

rjjr my $0.02 is don't go smaller than 35" and bigger is better. I have a couple of cats(electric) and the Buds and if the water is rough or rolling ONLY the cats come out to play and I live near the water(Great Lakes) so I have seen all types

Yep-the Enforcers go from 46" to 57", which in my opinion, is about the size range you want to be looking in anyway. Small enough to fit in an average car, big enough to handle moderate chop. Aeromarine is also good, as long as you stay roughly in that size range.

I like them just large enough for a good sized gas engine. 46-55" for a V'boat & 40 ish for a cat. Anything larger and it doesnt seem like R/c to me. A lot of guys I know run the Hella' large boats with huge Polini's that weigh almost 70 lbs. Takes two people to move it from the car to the water.

Still remember having a 2 door Ford Escort hatchback and putting three boats & my 60" trainer airplane with floats along with all the support gear. Try seeing folks do that now.

I'm just not impressed by the larger stuff. If you see me with a boat longer than I am tall (6ft) please remind me of this post.

The rollers I'm refering to are the wakes a boat makes. I run at Lake of the Ozarks and they can get pretty large.

I try to run early in the am or towards sunset to minimize the problem. Miss Spud couldn't handle the smallest of wakes.

I'm going to build an aeromarine this winter but because time is short I'm looking at the Expresscraft Boats Cheeta RTR.


Anyone have experience with this boat or this company?
