What is the length of the wire on a old Futaba receiver. One of the first narrow band ones (75 Hz). Part of original wire is missing. Have new wire but is very long. Thanks.
I have had a couple of Futaba am 75hz recievers and the antennas are excessively long! 19 inches to be exact. All that extra wire flopping around the end of the antenna tube is distracting. Of course you should not cut it, just wrap it around the tube. I have KO equipment now, and I wonder why they have short wires compared to Futaba?

HEY IM NOT SURE ABOUT THE LENGH OF ANY WIRE ON A RECEVER BUT MY LHS SAID TO NEVER CUT IT YOU CAN MAKE A INTERNAL ANTENNA THOUGH GET A FLAT PEICE OF LEXAN ABOT 3X5 INCHES AND CUT NOTCHES IN EACH SIDE AND WRAP THE WIRE AROUND IT THEN USE TWO SIDED SERVO TAPE TO TAPE THIS PLASTIC TO THE RECIVER. THIS HAS WORKED GREAT FOR MY COUSIN AND I. ANY QUESTIONS E-MAIL ME

Maybe I should say verrry long. The new wire is over thirty inches long they said it was for airplanes. Will try 19 inches. Thanks for your answers.

For whats its worth, here's something I copied from a Battlebot related website:
Your antenna should be 1/4 of the wavelength of the frequency of your radio. You can determine the wavelength by dividing the speed of light in meters per second (300,000,000), by the frequency. For example, the wavelength for 72MHz is 300,000,000/72,000,000 = 4.167 meters. One quarter of that is 1.042 meters or 41 inches. An antenna for 72Mhz works best at 41", or two times that or four times that (quarter wave, half wave, and full wave). Radio receivers come with antennas that are supposed to be trimmed to the right length, but it wouldn't hurt to check it.
