Hi i am really new to the sport.. infact i went saturday to bu my first real rc car.... the T4 and well i have a few questions.... what are some thing i should be watching for the first week or so.. or at that what usually breaks most frequently... and also when i got the car running i noticed that the forward throttle sends it backwards and the reverse throttle send it forwards, now i checked everything it said and i checked the radio and it isnt switched over so its suppose to do that.. and when i do use thaT SWITCH TO CHANGE IT TO OPPOSITE THROTTLE CONTROL IT JUST PUNCHES THE REVERSE THROTTLE ON AND WONT LET OFF.. I HAVE TO DRIVE IT LIKE BACKWARDS NOW( I.E reverse= forwards forwards = reverse ) and i just wanted to get this sorted out then i can begine the fun !!!.. also on my esc i don t have 4 heatsinks to cover it all... so should i go to the lhs and pick another up (if they carry them) or is it fine to run without heat sinks ? sorry for any troubles or stupid questions but im new.....

Welcome to the boards!
If you can't drive the car with the throttle that way then when you switch it over you will have to adjust the trim. As for the esc the heatsinks aren't supposed to cover the entire esc, but it should have heat sinks on it. As for the questions that is what this place is all about, asking questions and learning more about the hobby and also helping someone out if you can.

What kind of car do you have?

well thanks... but i am not sure hgow to fix the opposite throttle pronlem.. i can still drive it but its backwards.. like forward throttle -= reverse .. reverse = forward u know... its messed ...

Did you make sure that the positve wire is attached to the positive tab of the motor and the negative wire is attached to the negative tab? It seems like you have the wires mixed up.

It can be the motor wires are switched like Hachi said, or your other problem can be something called reversing switches. There's one for the servo and one for throttle. Depending how you set up the ESC, the switch could be set wrong. Most likely it's the wires though. Red/Yellow= positve Black/Blue=Negative.

I know this may sound really stupid, but you do know that pulling the trigger back makes the car go forward and pushing the trigger forward makes the car brake or go backwards. Just making sure.

ok first off.... thanks everyone ....... yes i know about the reverse switches and its not that because when i switch it to reverse throttle it just makes it slamm on the gas in reverse and it wont stop unless i push forward........ as for the wires being messed well i didnt build it so i dont see why they would be i thought so my self but i didnt want to do anything to the motor so is there any thing on the motor that tells me whats possitive/negative .....

also as i was driving it today ( i can still drive it remember its jhust backwards controlls) i noticed that when i am going forward sometime sit just stops and wont go .. the sterring will turn but it wont go..... then i just nudge the reverse and then i can take off in forward motion again.....

:D :D :) lol also i thought i would add as i was racing in a local sand pit.. i smashed into a lil tree and it broke the front left a arm (i think thats what its called) so i stripped it and got the peice out now im gonna go but a new one tommorrow.( if u can buy them single )

i love r/c ooo so much already and lol heh breaking parts its half the fun.. u get to know ur car..... so i hope u guys cna help me out it sounds like my esc is messed but i dont know why it would be i mean i bought it on saturday... thanks guys

You should really try reversing the wires. Do you use the bullet connectors or do you hard solder your motor?

i think its sawdered on.. well i know it is.. lol

it wont hurt to try reversing the wires and then seeing.... it wont hurt the car ?

It shouldnt hurt anything. Just switch the wires, if that doesnt solve the problem then you have something else wrong with it.

anyone else got any info about the speed problem.. how it has no throttle till i hit reverse then i can goe forward .. and it happens all the time... anyone got any answers

got help for my problems.. i haven't switched the wires yet... but i doubt that it effects the fact that my car looses power to the motor often... and i cant for forward (can always go backwards) but i have to hit the reverse to then go forward again..... anyhelp on any of my problems? ( i am gonna switch the wires soon...)

Switch the wires and report back. If you dont have a soldering iron just pick of a little kit from your local radioshack for $7. If that doesnt fix the throttle problem then i guess something is up with your esc.

ill try that tommorrow hopefully it fixes my power problem... and the reverse problem..

look on your radio controler for a switch that reverses the way you move trigger. Other then that just reverse the wires again.

Hey buggy, If you go into the hobby shop you got the setup from I'm sure they will help you for free. It's always good the form a relationship with your lhs when your starting off. I'm sure it's something simple like the wires or setting a servo reversing switch on the transmitter.

thanks speeed.. i was gonna do that but there hours are tues-sat.. so i wam goin=g tommorrow... and hpi pro2 not to be an ass but if u read the original post and all the threads it helps.. that switched has already been discussed and its mesed...

The switch it not messed. Servo reversing switches in the throttle channel on eletric cars are not meant to reverse the direction of the motor. All it does is reverse your input. So that is why when you reverse it, it goes full gas even if you do not apply any throttle. It should slow down as you pull the trigger. (i may be wrong though)

i dont think thats it.. cause when it switch the throttle switch to reverse it just jams the gas on and it wont stop unless i hit forwards.,...... i is kinda maiking me amd all thses problems and iahevnt even had it for more than 4 days...

I don't want to make you really feel like a newb here at all, but which way do you pull/push the trigger to go forwards, and which way do you do it to go backwards? If you pull it towards you it should go forwards, and if you push it away from you it should slow down and brake (if moving) and/or switch into reverse. I didn't type this to make you feel like a newb but I have seen people do this before my mistake and not even realize it.

But welcome to the boards and you picked an excelent car to have.

people this has been stated several times if u would have read the original post and repli\es its not that........ i fixed most of it anyways... god its a good thing i know what im doing ...............

thanks anyways..... anyother sugeestions on what to do to make it run more effcient, faster, and get more traction....?/?/?//
