Hi:
Just wondering whats good to strengthening the inside of the body? I race nitro touring cars and I noticed that in the part of the body that covers the tyres (Hood sides, front) the body breaks and tends to bend a little bit.

I have tried duct tape but did not work it got out.

Can a 5th body post upfront or a lexan reinforcement solve my problem?
Or do you know a better way to solve this!?

All your help will be appreciated! ;)

In this type of instance, Shoe Goo is your friend. Typically after painting a body, I'll shoe goo all the high impact areas. It may not stop the body from cracking, but I think it does help. Not only that, but when the body does crack, it usually doesn't crack far. I imagine you could use strips of lexan shoe goo'd inside, but still not sure how much crack resistance that would add.

use fiberglass reinforcement tape and shoe goo over it
position the tape so it is 90degrees to the crack or where u think it will crack, it will stop crack from propigating - engineer speak for "getting bigger"

Another good trick is to use drywall float tape with Shoe Goo. The tape is light weight and has some tack to it already so it's easy to place once you cut it. You can pick it up at probably any hardware store. Heck, I bought mine at Wal Mart. It's about the same width as duct tape and looks like tape on a roll that's made from bits of string forming square holes. A lot of us MT bashers use this combination to fix cracks and breaks, which are not at all uncommon from all the weird landings off jumps.

I used 1/4" strips of strapping tape on the inside of high stress areas for the last two bodies I've made. Both have held up extremely well so far.

I do regularly never strengthen my bodies more than around the wheel wells with some tape (paint does not rub off) and put foam body post rings in the body to get a non-rattleing body. When i get a crack or something, i just paint a new body. If it's in the middle of a race i take duct-tape  :p
